Saw the article on redsminorleagues about Riley Pint. He goes to Saint Thomas Aquinas...that's my high school! I'm gonna go watch him pitch here in the next couple weeks.

What's the story with Mesoraco, Left Field, and Peraza? I haven't been very up to date. Also do you know what the order of the rotation will be?
I expect Disco to pitch opening day. Beyond that is anyone's guess. Finnegan,Simon and Iggy. The 5th is up in the air. I think you'll see a platoon of Y-Rod and a lefthanded hitter in LF. Unfortunitely since we have been unable to convince BP to agree to a trade I think they will send Peraza to AAA to play SS everyday. Mesoraco is playing and catching. Actually has hit the ball fairly well.

Jake thought this might interest you.

Riley Pint pitched last night. Went into the fifth inning before he hit his pitch count

4+ IP
72 pitches
0 R
2 H
4 BB
6 K

Hit 99 on the gun 3 times in the first, sat 95-97 throughout. Had a good curve, but I didn’t hear anything about the changeup in this outing as of yet. From the description of it, it sounds like he was working on the curve.

I think the main concern people have is that his delivery is inconsistent and he tends to throw across his body. Things that can easily be worked on. I'm usually in favor of taking hard throwing high schoolers in the 1st round. All about the upside for me.

He certainly is getting noticed. Once he signs somewhere they will retool his mechanics. Kid has talent!!!

Rookie Davis

Back in 2011, Davis was one of the more intriguing two-way high school players in the Draft class. The Yankees liked him on the mound better and gave him $550,000 in the 14th round to keep him from hitting and pitching at North Carolina. After a breakout season in 2015 that saw him reach Double-A, Davis was sent to the Reds, along with Eric Jagielo, in the Aroldis Chapman deal.

The key to Davis' success in 2015 was consistency along with an uptick in his stuff. Using his 6-foot-5 frame more effectively, Davis' fastball sits comfortably in the low-90s, but he easily reaches 95-96 mph with regularity. He throws it with good movement so when he isn't missing bats, he's eliciting soft contact. He complements his heater with a power curve that also can miss bats. His changeup, while his third pitch, has improved over time. Davis' walk rate went way down while his strikeout rate went up in 2015.

Davis has come a long way in a year, going from the bottom third of the Yankees' Top 30 to being considered the Yankees' second-best starting prospect at the time of the trade. He has mid-rotation potential.

Thanks AZ. Two good outings in a row from Davis. Has a real good arm as you mentioned. Certainly a youngster on the rise.

The bullpen is beyond terrible. Oh well, they'll be the reason for another good draft pick next year.
jake lots to like about the organization. If the bull pen turns out to be what has us losing we will in good shape shortly. We are 1 game over 500 with Votto hitting 185, only one of our projected starting pitchers in the rotation,Mesoraco is hitting worse then Joey. Yes the bull pen is bad but Cozart,Bruce,Cozart, Finnegqn,Stephenson and Iggy are playing well. I also could add Barnhardt to that list.
