I'm with you Jake. Especially early in ST/ The flip side though is if they were having a terrible ST I would be less optimistic. They play the Royals today and Romano is pitching. I think he could turn out to be a sleeper this season. Very live arm.

Travis Wood starting for KC. I wish I could watch. I don't really know anything about Romano. Where'd he come from?

Really enjoyed Travis when he was with the reds. Hated to see him traded. As Patrick mentioned Romano was in AA last year. He does have a big arm and so far this Spring has pitched well. Him, Reed, Garrett and Stephenson have all got off to good starts this spring.

What did you think of him Patrick?

The wife and I went to Pensacola for vacation and wanted to hit a ballgame there, the stadium is beautiful, very nice. I was there all week and being a former P wanted to see a good young SP. I asked Doug Gray and he said to see Sal. He is 6'5, in the game I saw, he was really solid, allowing one run, three hits and SO 7 in five innings. He has good command and nobody hit the ball really hard off of him. I saw Miguel Cabrera at Pensacola watching him as well. He has legit shot to be part of rotation this year.

Doug is pretty high on Sal. I agree with you. I think he will pitch in the show this year at some point.

Sal went 3 innings today and gave up a run on 2 hits and walked no one and struck out 4. The hit was a 1 out home run in the first.

On the spring so far the young pitchers have really performed well. While it is early its nice to see them having some success to build on moving forward.

A interesting note is that all 4 have rented a house in Goodyear. Garrett, Stephenson, Romano and Reed. Two lefties and two righties. Would be nice if all 4 stay healthy and make it to the bigs together. All have nice potential and big upside. Should be fun following their progress.

A few hitter I am keeping a eye on:

1. Stenzel are No.1 rated prospect and the no. 2 pick in last years draft. Probably start year in A+ and with a good start be promoted to AA by years end.

2, Winker a hitter with a very good approach who if he can stay healthy and show some power could be the first position player to move up to the bigs. A wrist injury was a issue last year that sapped some of his pop.

3. Ervin another guy who should start at Louisville. His batting average was a bit lower then you would like to see but the rest of his game is very good. if he can get a few more batted balls to drop in he could really take a big step. he has talent.

4. Aquino a guy who needed to work on his plate discipline and did last year. he still has a way to go but he is a enormous talent. 5 tools. he led the league in throwing out runners from the outfield and it wasn't even close. Word is when he makes contact the ball just sounds different coming off the bat. Will start year in AA.

5. Trammell a youngster with a lot of tools. Should start in Dayton and has a lot of talent to build on. If he can stay in CF he could be a star in the making.

6. A former first round pick is Tyler Stephenson. A catcher. Lots of talent but injuries really derailed him last year. Probably start year in Dayton. Was a 1st round high school selection.

Senzel won't start in AA? I think he could be a September call up. He's a college guy, so I'd imagine he'll be on the fast track, right?

he may skip the A+ level. I really think maintaining a additional year of team control will keep him out of the show this year. Especially when we probably won't be competing this year anyway.

I don't think it will hurt service time if they bring him up in September.

It may burn a option.

It will be interesting following him this year. We also got the second pick in this draft. if they don't mess it up they can stock pile some very nice players.

Don't think so.
Doug Gray posted today that very high probability that he will start at A+. Hopefully around mid season he gets a promotion to AA and next year he starts at AAA.

Last year the reds really didn't do much in the way of call ups in Sept. I was really surprised that Winker didn't get a cup of coffee.

Ill ask around and see how the system works for call ups. Very confusing.

Yeah I definitely don't know the ins and outs of all that stuff.
