Yeah I don't think the reds move a bat to get starting pitching. But I do believe if they can deal Bruce they will. I've heard the cespedes rumors too. I wouldn't trade a pitcher to rent a power hitter for a year. Especially one that hits .240. If we move a young arm it has to be for someone with long term plans. We aren't in a position to win right now so renting players is pointless.

And Waite I don't think dealing Bruce solves their problems I just think it's necessary to rebuild. It would be one of two or three moves to get them to a point where they are ready to compete. I agree that getting votto healthy is necessary and will help, but the rest of their hitting problems aren't due to health issues. Phillips no longer is a speed or power guy. Bruce has never hit for average and while he still has pop his eye for the ball is not what it should be to consider him a long term plug into the middle of the lineup. And as I stated before if he tanks another year he will be untradable. If I were a betting man I'd venture to guess this year he is closer to his .217 and 18 bombs from last year than he will be to .250ish and 30 bombs that he hit the previous few years. And even if he does get to those numbers, that doesnt make him a superstar. If you can move him I think you do. His numbers can be replaced.
what do you want to bet???

I'll also bet you Bruce is a red on opening day.

The reds are listening on Bruce because they need to cut payroll and no one is going to take Phillips (10-5) rights, Votto crazy contract, bailey crazy contract. Bruce is the only one who can be traded the is owed a good amount of money. For example you can trade Bruce to Padres for Ross (sp) and torres (rp) and put Ross in rotation and Torres in bullpen then trade leake or latos to Boston for cespedes for one year till Winker is ready and sign hunter to a 2 or 3 year deal to man right field. All of this saves money for now to extend cueto, worry about the future when you get the tv money.
they can back load Cueto's contract extension so big money kicks in after BP,Bruce, and TV contract is done. They have back loaded many contracts.

But they are already at record payroll so they have to trade someone to even sign cueto for 2016 that's why they traded broxton to free up a big contract, IMO they will do the same with Bruce. You can get hunter or aoki for cheaper and same production as last year.

they are fine right now if they need payroll it will be Leake or Latos on the move not Cueto. Walt already made that clear. You want in on the wager. A six pack says Bruce is on the Reds opening day roster. This will be the easiest 6 pack I have ever got.

I agree with you cueto will not be traded but I'm not so sure about Bruce.

For Matt Kemp?

Jacob- I agree the problems run deeper than that. With all the injuries, you have a point in that respect to. But I must say that even Price said one time on the air that he had recently (during the season) made a lot of mistakes managing the personnel on this team. As a former high school player and high school coach, I can tell you managers make a huge difference. You sound like Tracy Jones. The manager sets the lineup, dictates the hitting and pitching styles, dictates the approach on the bases, judges talent and arranges accordingly, dictates the training, the atmosphere on the team and managers are responsible to get the teams physically and mentally prepared. He's awful. I certainly hope he improves. I can tell you one thing, if it were my team and I was putting up a 100 million in salary, I would pick a proven coach with proven winning credentials. Dusty was that way and could not take us to the WS. But he won and won consistently.

I'm not a betting man, but if you really wanted to bet, and I'm assuming it would be over Bruce's stats this upcoming year, then if I lose you can come sit with me at a basketball game. If I win you owe me nothing because I would be happy that Bruce had a good year. I won't bet whether or not they trade him because for one that depends on alot of factors and two I honestly don't think the Reds will move him. I think they should if they can but that doesn't mean I think they will.

Sounds good to me, I don't get to nowhere near as many games as I used to or would like to. Going to bed at 8:00 on weekdays kinda makes it hard. Never miss my Bearcats though. Believe it or not I've been to more road games most of the past few years than home games for the Reds.
