Did he say anything about Kemp. Sorry I couldn't resist. LOL. don't think the Reds will part with Bruce. Not coming off a down year with a injury. Classic selling Low. Not only that but it would create another hole in the outfield. Think they will sign a 1 year stop gap for LF until Winker is ready and add a bull pen piece. Kid can hit.

Lol no but hey atleast I was right that he would get traded when no one thought he would, just not to the reds.

The Marlins have been great at producing top pitchers. If they're dealing this guy I don't think they think he's better than Matt Latos, especially throwing in another player. Maybe long term the Reds think he can develop into something but as of today he projects as a bullpen guy at worst and a back end of the rotation guy at best. The Reds are shedding payroll to buy a left fielder so I understand the move and giving up two starters you have to get a guy in return that can be ready to be thrown into the rotation by opening day. That's what this move is. They get a young catcher in the deal as well as they need catching depth in the system. Personally I would've rather traded Latos for a little more but I understand the move. Latos is a solid #2, but if he doesn't fit into the long term plans at least they made a move. The Simon move doesn't bother me. I think he overperformed the first half of last year and don't think he's a guy that would've been in our rotation going forward (past this upcoming season). We got a ML ready utility man that maybe can push Cozart a little and a 1st round pick arm out of the deal. Great trade in my opinion and a head scratcher for the Tigers. They must not have confidence in their pick from just last year. Maybe they are just trying to get a guy for right now as they are in a win now mode. They traded away Porcello and I think Scherzer is a free agent so they need ML ready arms. I still think they are over-valuing Simon, but that works out for us.

considering Latos has finished the last two seasons on the DL and it's been reported he lost 2-3 mph off his fastball and was due to make 8mil with one year of them control left I think we did better the good.

I don't disagree but to say this pitcher we got is a better pitcher outright than Latos is completely foolish to me.

Yeah using projected FIP to compare a guy who has never done it before to a guy who has done it for 6 years or whatever seems a little crazy. Especially for this upcoming year only.

Not a fan of Cingrani in the starting rotation but a big fan of his hidden fastball in the bullpen and maybe as a closer. That is what got him to the bigs. Chapman came to age last year when all looked bad he has really developed his 3 and 4 pitch that could make him a 1 or 2 stud with Cueto.

Unfortunitely the ship for Chapman starting has sailed. Lots of scouts think eventually Cingrani will end up in pen. As a closer, I'm not so sure.

His walk ratio went up last year which will not allow him to close. I would take Hoover and Cingrani also Ben Lively get them away from the splitter, get back to their fastball change up. Would make a good back end bullpen.

I saw that Johnathon Crawford could be the closer of the future. I go back and forth on Cingrani. As of now, I like him out of the bullpen too.

If the season started today the rotation would be
Cueto
Bailey
Leake
Iglesias
Desclafani

And bullpen

Marshall
Diaz
Parra
Lecure
Contreras
Cingrani
Chapman

Wonder where Stephenson fits into the picture. I hope we do not give to much away for a one year left fielder. Had a chance to see winkler in the Arizona winter league. great at bats. Also do not give up that number 10 draft pick.

stephenson has a ton of talent. He he rebounds after a step back last year.

I read that Jocketty wants to keep Iglesias as a reliever for now. That was before Latos and Simon got traded though...so idk now. But it seems optimistic to plug him in as a #4 starter right now.

I give Lively every chance to stick as a starter before he goes to pen. Had a nice year pitching in Bakersfield in a hitters friendly league. Wasn't quite as good after moving to AA.
