BCL.

Todd Cunningham has been on top of it.

No offense but I will be taking it with a little bit of a grain of salt. NC State has been leaking info at every stop so why stop now? They also said they were interested in Shaka Smart and they can't communicate with him until after his season is over. Add in that Shaka has not come out and said he was not interested and I think this might be a bit of a stretch right now. Todd has to sell memberships and while he may have heard, "NC State is prepared to offer their next coach 7 years and $15 Million," if this offer was on the table to Mick, I think we would know about it for sure. My guess is he is taking 1+1 and trying to make 3.

Now, this could happen and Mick could leave, but I can't imagine anything being formally offered until after the Final Four. Mike Thomas is going to want to get something done by Monday if possible though.

The rumor did not start with Todd. BCN received a post as well. Started with a website which I consider to be a shaky source.

I'm expecting to hear something by days end tomorrow. Of course money is involved but this isn't all about money. I've said the last couple days "if" there is a concern it's from NC State. Though I don't believe there is a formal offer at this point. This is about being where you want to be and knowing you can compete and have support. Talks are moving forward. Still confident Mick will be the UC head coach.

"CashmereWright1 Cashmere Wright
Are you serious???? Well now I have to make the right decision for me now!!
"

Cash's twitter...

I have a feeling it's Cash reacting to the rumors since nothing else has broken yet, but I could be wrong... Here's hoping you and I are both right.

cashmere also sends a lot of "subtweets" where he puts things out there but is only talking to one person i.e. a girl. his twitter is not something i'd look to far into.

I've reached out on this trying to get a bite. Still saying Mick will be here. I can't find out anything and don't see anything nationally.

Found this interesting:

In his email, Kingston said there was a difference between an official job offer from N.C. State and preliminary conversations.

“Responding to those compensation questions is not the equivalent of ‘offering the job’ to anyone,” Kingston wrote. “Instead, it is simply sharing information that reflects the commitment of State to the men’s basketball program.”
Yow is in Houston for the Final Four. Virginia Commonwealth coach Shaka Smart, Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall and Cincinnati’s Mick Cronin are believed to be among Yow’s top targets.

If Cash is reacting to rumor then it's probably on me. He follows me on twitter. If this related to the rumors than I will accept the blame. I've contacted him, no response yet.

He is. I looked on his twitter page and he asked a fan if he had heard anything. Cash didn't hear anything from Cronin or the athletic department at UC. He saw something on twitter and was reacting to that.

how much does mick make now?

700K- it's clearly not enough. With that said, Mick has stated it's not about his personal salary. It's about having the facilities and recruiting budget to be on a level playing field to compete with the rest of the Big East. He will get a raise- likely a significant one... but the important changes will be made in the budget department, right? In the Q&A with BCL Mike Thomas was hinting at the fact that he had finally gotten through to the administration and that changes were coming.

It's all a waiting game now. Hopefully this situation gets resolved by Monday so Mick can focus on finishing up the 2011 class.
