Report: Mick Cronin to Accept Position at Missouri (APRIL FOOLS!)

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

I know where you're coming from but I think it will come early Mon. Generally no one does pressers on Sun.

I don't think it'll be a presser, just think a statement of some kind will be released. Things are getting a bit crazy and it is affecting your players and any recruit that is following this and reading boards. I look for Bill Koch or somebody to have something to report along the lines of "We're moving forward and both sides are committed to making this happen" or "We have an agreement in principle to keep Mick here for the next X amount of years". Good day to put something out there with no games. You're not likely to see a presser till after Monday and a return from Houston. The school has to douse this, it has taken on a life of it's own on other sites and people are discussing replacements already. Let me compliment this group on keeping a level head, except for Lobot (jk buddy).

Nice find!! That is a pretty good deal for Cronin and honestly he can not really expect much more, at least IMO. Pitino is making some serious dollar bills at U of L. He is the highest paid coach on that list.

Mick Cronin said today that “it’s just a matter of time” before he reaches an agreement on a contract extension.

“It isn’t like it’s contentious,” Cronin said. “They’re just working out details. I appreciate that the university is doing that.”

Cronin just completed his fifth year as UC’s head coach, took the Bearcats to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2005 this past season, leading UC to a 26-9 record, 11-7 in the Big East Conference.

He has three years remaining on his current contract.

“My intent is to retire here,” he said.

In recent weeks, Cronin has been mentioned as a candidate for coaching vacancies at Arkansas, Missouri and North Carolina State. He said he has not been offered any other job, but would not say if he has been contacted by other schools.

“I’ve worked really hard to get us where we are,” Cronin said. “I want to build on that. It’s not about money. It’s about being happy.”

Just as we have been saying on here for days. Good to hear it from the horses mouth though. Maybe now all the sensational rumors will stop being reported. I have said all along what was reported on other sites was contrary to what I was hearing. You never know 100% but glad in this case it was correct.

Was not offered any other jobs! Blows the credibility of those reports out of the water.

Yep and my guess is that it came to Mick's attention that this was starting to take on a life of it's own and he wanted to make sure this came out. I also bet he was waiting until they had a deal in principle worked out. No sense in getting rid of any of his leverage.

Exactly what I thought and hoped. Good to hear.

Thought the statement would come last night. Glad it's out so we can get back to talking bout the future of UC hoops.

The guys at BCL are pot stirrers, Todd Cunningham lost all his credibility when he said Mike Shannahan was a candidate for the UC coaching job. Sucks for those who actually pay for that crap...

I'd have to agree, at least this time... they pushed and pushed and pushed this whole, "Mick is very close to leaving because the UC administration won't give him what he wants," angle. I somewhat called Todd out on their boards about it. I'm not a premium member so I can't see the VIP posts.

They are in the business of selling memberships and to do that sensationalism is the key. Their business would also be hurt if Cronin left so I'm sure they have their own agendas.

The Shanahan deal was pretty damn bad. Can't believe a company did that.
