This is a good question. I am thinking...it's not about being good but how good we can be. It's not just the C but the PG...perhaps moreso the PG. I don't think we can go far with that type of issue (if it remains). Can we do well? Sure. Can we be great? I kind of doub it. We are going to need someone to step up if we want to be in the elite conversation IMO.

PG is by far the most important position on the floor, it's not even close. That's why I bash all these SG's we have coming in. Hopefully they can handle the rock.

Cash was on fire in the games w/o Yancy and Cheikh. Remember that sick reverse layup against Oklahoma and then the game-winning shot? Like you said, isn't just the C, the pg playing well is a must.

I guess that is more of what I'm wondering. I didn't really watch those games. So what I'm asking is, did we win because of "lucky" performances? Was it a case of some of our players being on fire? The teams we played didn't have a center that could abuse our lack of a big man? Or did we play with a certain strategy that we can replicate next year when we won't have a proven center? Did we play zone those games? Did we press the entire game?

I just find it interesting that so many people seem to think we have no chance without a true center, but it seems that one of our best runs last year was when both our big men were suspended.

Biggest thing was just winning a few and then getting hot. We had a few close games this past year, (I.e. New Mexico, St. John's, Syracuse, etc.) that we couldn't finish. Winning just 1-2 of those games would've really helped us get hot. That is the key, just win one and you will start to string together a few more. Two years ago, that happened. This year, we couldn't pull them out.

Yeah, but that run was against crap teams: Wright St., Radford, Chicago St. Arkansas Pine Bluff, a bad Oklahoma team and Pitt @- nice, but not all that impressive - last year's team with Gates is a better team

Exactly. I think they started to play better post brawl but those games without Yancy were against cupcakes. Oklahoma was terrible that year and Pitt was bad as well. They beat Pitt when Pitt was in the middle of an 8 game losing streak. After the losing streak Pitt won a few games then went on another 5 game losing streak and lost 7 out of 9 games.
