I think once Morman realizes what his role is and accepts it, then he can start to improve and help the team out. He has the athletic ability, he just has play in the system (and honestly I expected huge things from him this year after watching some scrims and pre-season, but it hasn't transitioned to real games.)

Moore flashes signs for sure. With a full season of our weight program I'm interested to see what he will turn out like. His feet are on the slow side right now and I'd say he's a little unsure of himself when he's out there, but if he can figure it out and get in shape he could be really good.

See I think Morman's ability has transitioned to the real games. He is avg. I think a little under 10 minutes a game. I don't care who you are it is difficult to perform at a high level without the benefit of extended minutes. Look at the lifeline the coaching staff has thrown KJ. Mormon receives nothing of the sort and he in many ways is productive with the limited minutes. I know he has some warts but the kid is agressive and he makes things happen in the minutes he does get.

kj's stats: Reb(26) Ast (27) TO (33) STL(21) BLK (4)

He is the only player on the team that his TO are his highest stat. I don't know if I've ever seen a player get so many minutes with his turnovers being his highest total stat.

He is chaotic and makes a lot of dumb decision, he is one dimensional if he isn't hitting from outside he's useless. He can not drive to the rim I don't know why people think he can.

Morman and Moore will both be good players. Morman hurts you because he is out of control and does not play in the flow of the offense but I do like his attacking style and that's what I think will help in the future.

Moore is improving but still behind Clark, Deberry and Ellis.

I'll say this: If Morman had quality minutes (20+) he would lead the team in free throw attempts. He is a magnet to the opposing teams D. I just think this kid getting quality PT would translate into production all across the board. He looks to be a stat sheet stuffer in good ways and bad.

He drove to the rim last year. He did so with regularity when he did play. He looks to be a great teammate and very likeable. It's just that his production is so subpar it sticks out like a sore thumb. How does a player only have (2)Offensive rebounds in 485 minutes of action this year. I'll tell You. He sits 25-28 feet from the basket at all times. From an opposing teams defensive standpoint, he is that player you don't worry about ever.

Believe me I want kj to be good he is a great kid and by far the most well spoken kid on the team, maybe even the best spoken bearcat of all time and it's nice to have that. But id rather have a kid that couldn't speak English and was an amazing basketball player rather than the opposite.

I know there are a lot of people who can get crazy stats on here. I'm wondering how many baskets kj has in the paint in the half court offense. I would say 90% of his points in the paint come off of fast break turnovers. Which would imply he is not good at driving to the basket.

For all that I've said about KJ, I want to be clear. I want him to get right because the coaches are all in with him. All I want is UC to win and I know going forward we are going to need him to play at a much higher level than he's playing at. I know how hard College Basketball is to play and I know he doesn't feel good about how things have gone, but the Coaches are joined at the hip with him and sooner or later it's in the programs best interest for him to figure it out and start playing the way Mick and the staff were anticipating when they recruited him. This nonsense of him so far away from the hoop on offense and being no threat has to stop. He has to start playing like a starting 2 guard is supposed to play like.

I can agree with a lot of the stuff on KJ, but I think there are just a couple things holding him back. His play on the road hasn't been nearly as good as at home. That's the main thing. He has 37 points on 13-25 from the floor last 4 home games. And 18 points on 6-26 from the floor last 4 road games. He's a soph that didn't play a ton last year. He hasn't learned how to be strong with the ball in big games yet. He had a good stretch during our 4 game winning streak. He's gonna keep getting better. And I don't think him fouling more than Cobb hurts the team necessarily, just his individual rhythm. KJ's rebounding could definitely stand to improve though. Those rebounding numbers are amazing for Cobb

Somebody has to stay back on a shot to prevent a breakaway. KJ is that guy. KJ isn't being asked to grab offensive boards.

I get it Cobb makes three pointers in bunches every now and again. Wow if only we played him 40 minutes and cut KJ maybe we could push for a national title. Bottom line is our coaches know way more about basketball and these players than all of us on here combined. If they choose to start KJ I trust their reasons. Fact is yes KJ plays his role and in the system. Mick doesn't like selfish play and expects the players to run the offense he wants them too. KJ and Cobb both have their roles and I have no problem with them. Cobb is used as a spark off the bench and to be pg when troy is on bench. KJ is used to be a cog in the offense, provide some scoring and keep the other teams guards from getting easy shots. Both play their roles well and it works. KJ turns the ball over too much and when he does he gets the bench, Cobb can take bad shots and get away from the offense. When he does he gets the bench. In conference play KJ has had as many games where he clearly outperformed Cobb as Cobb has outperformed KJ. I really don't see the disparity alot of you do. Some of you fail to see the big picture and look outside the stat sheet.

The fact is kj plays good against bad teams Cobb has the ability to play good against good teams Smu twice and San diego state. He was are best scorer in all 3 of those games and those are our best three wins. When kj gets a lot of pressure on him he freaks out and plays out of control.

You guys are very quick to bash shaq, but when kj has a bad game it's ok/ shaq had a lot of huge shots last night and we would not have won the game without those shots give shaq credit, I'll give kj credit if he can produce against a quality opponent.

Nice try on looking outside the stat sheet. You can't discount what the numbers are. A dead man can get 2 offensive rebounds in close to 500 minutes played, even if your the guy responsible for breakouts. I guess we just disagree. What I do know is that KJ is clearly underperforming at a rate that I would have to believe is not the norm in major college basketball for a starting 2 guard in every statistical category seen. Let's just say I guess times have changed since I've played College Basketball. No way I would see the court with those numbers even if I played within the big picture as you alluded to.

KJ did hit 10 3s out of 19 in the 4 game stretch before this past 2 gane road trip. Cobb was 4-17 overall in the 3 games leading up to this past road trip. I don't get why some (not you) feel like one has to be great and the other has to be terrible. We have plenty of minutes for both. Both have helped us win. And both have obviously struggled at times. But we need both of them.

KJ has cooled of because we played good teams like I've said 100 times you guys didn't and still don't listen to me and I'm going to say it I TOLD YOU SO.

Cobb is better than KJ

Thanks for repeating what I said 3 weeks ago!

Are we long lost brothers lol?

The fact here is guys I want everyone to play well these kids are all great kids a have know personal hatred for any player I just want what's best for this team. And I truly believe having Cobb in the game more than kj gives us a better chance to win games.

So lets take this a step further guys. I obviously am an idiot. WHY is KJ seeing the floor? Are Mick and Davis incompetent as coaches? Is our team just lacking even an average mind on the sidelines from being the best team in college ball? I thought we were past the Cobb is the second coming and KJ shouldn't be on the team crap but two subpar games from KJ and a few threes by Cobb and suddenly we are back on this bus.

If one of them scores in double figures, I love the Bearcats' chances. I'm gonna leave it at that for now.

Yes

When shaq was starting and you guys all wanted sanders to start over him you were doing the exact same thing and I would say Cobb is as much better than kj as sanders is better than shaq.

Basketball is five on five, one guy takes a shot. He doesn't get an open look unless all five pieces are working together. So yeah there is more than what shows up on a stat sheet. Same on defense. One weak link creates easy baskets. Basketball is a team game and Mick knows this. That's why teams like St. Johns and Providence recruit all this talent and can't seem to be above .500 most years. There's more to basketball than putting five guys out there who can all score in high school and just let them have at it. Yes I think Mick needs to get better shooters but the reason he wins is he gets his teams to play together as one cohesive unit. He gets them to play tough D. And when you don't buy into his system you don't play. That is why Davis never played here and why Mormon thus far is in the doghouse. And relating to Cobb, one he is going to come off the bench because he's the second and only other option at pg and Mick plans to maximize 40 minutes and plans for line-ups when guys have to be on bench. Two he isn't the all-round player that KJ is and will be. KJ's defense is much better. Cobb is good on-the-ball but he doesn't work as well in the half-court defense and that's what Mick takes his pride in. Like it or not Mick looks outside the stat sheet when it comes to pt. He has won with less talent and because of it is getting better talent. Hopefully that translates into winning at a higher level the next few years.
