Basketball is five on five, one guy takes a shot. He doesn't get an open look unless all five pieces are working together. So yeah there is more than what shows up on a stat sheet. Same on defense. One weak link creates easy baskets. Basketball is a team game and Mick knows this. That's why teams like St. Johns and Providence recruit all this talent and can't seem to be above .500 most years. There's more to basketball than putting five guys out there who can all score in high school and just let them have at it. Yes I think Mick needs to get better shooters but the reason he wins is he gets his teams to play together as one cohesive unit. He gets them to play tough D. And when you don't buy into his system you don't play. That is why Davis never played here and why Mormon thus far is in the doghouse. And relating to Cobb, one he is going to come off the bench because he's the second and only other option at pg and Mick plans to maximize 40 minutes and plans for line-ups when guys have to be on bench. Two he isn't the all-round player that KJ is and will be. KJ's defense is much better. Cobb is good on-the-ball but he doesn't work as well in the half-court defense and that's what Mick takes his pride in. Like it or not Mick looks outside the stat sheet when it comes to pt. He has won with less talent and because of it is getting better talent. Hopefully that translates into winning at a higher level the next few years.

Cobb has more upside than KJ. You call fouling every 7 times down the floor defense? KJ only start because like you said we need a back up pg and next year once jenifer is here to back up Caupain Cobb will start at the 2.

You make good points but seem to be confused teams want kj too shoot so they sag off of him which makes it easier to play help side defense. Teams have to shadow Cobb because they are afraid of his shooting ability this creates more separation in the defense and allows people to penetrate into the paint. When you get the ball into the paint the defense all collapses on one player which then allows you to ether shoot, pass to the block or kick it out for three. This happens a lot more when Cobb is on the floor.

Yes

When shaq was starting and you guys all wanted sanders to start over him you were doing the exact same thing and I would say Cobb is as much better than kj as sanders is better than shaq.

Problem is the numbers for Cobb aren't astronomically better than KJ's as many on here suggest. And I've seen Cobb get burned on defense a few times getting late to recover to a shooter. I've seen him chuck up bad shots that lead to fast points the other way. And I'm not trying to bash Cobb. I really like what he can provide. There have been a few games where his shooting was the difference between a win and a loss. He plays as many minutes as KJ so I'm not really sure what the issue is with some people on here. And yes me personally I thought last year Sanders should start over Shaq even when both were getting bashed hard. My personal belief was he liked Sanders to be with the second team and Shaq with SK. This year it isn't so cut and dry between the first and second team and Shaq's weaknesses become more glaring without a first team All American next to him.

I'm just in a complete disagreement with you you bash shaq when he has bad games kj probably had the worst game of any player this season last night if your going to play favorites fine but don't say kj is better than someone when he is not.

I have no problems admitting that Cobb has been a better offensive player.

We are just saying if you start Cobb he get hot fast meaning he will score more points, he is a shooter looking to shoot not everyone else who most of the time is scared to shoot.

When was I praising KJ for his play last night? Fact is he has played like crap the last two games. As a whole and coming into a game you have a gameplan. You don't know who will and won't pay well and hit shots. Caupain lit up UConn and then had maybe his worst game the next game out. KJ starts for a reason and will continue to start for that same reason. I'll throw a big wrench into things and remind everyone that Guyn started the year at the 2 and if not hurt I have no doubt that he would still be in the starting line-up at the 2 over Cobb and KJ. I just find it amusing how people on here really think Cobb is hands down a better player than KJ. I just don't see it. I like KJ but he needs to be more consistent. He needs to cut down on his turnovers. He needs more consistency with his shot. He needs to quit moving into the ball handler and commiting fouls 50 feet from the basket and 20 feet from the basket.

We lost the only game Cobb started this year and he came out hot that game. Played the first 9 minutes of the game and played 16 of the 20 in the second half when we got demolished. If we start Cobb opposite Caupain and one or both gets into foul trouble who is your third pg? You plan for 40 minutes. Cobb has played over 30 minutes in games coming off the bench. If you start Cobb and your team scores 8 more points in the first half but gives up 8 more points did you accomplish anything?

Idk about Morman being in the doghouse. What did he do?

I don't get why we have to choose between them. Cobb vs KJ!!! Pick a side! We act like they aren't on the same team.

I actually agree with this and tried to point out that they both have a role on this team and I like their roles and agree with them. For whatever reason when you argue a point on here you kind of have to take an extreme side to make your point sometimes. I personally love Cobb coming off the bench and getting hot. Last might when he hit a few shots midway through the second half I thought to myself, "Awesome, Cobb is going to get hot, just what we need." I just honestly don't think starting him will make him any more consistent or necessarily mean that he score more than he already does.

With that said I'll pick this argument back up later with you guys. Have to go for now.

My point is shaq had bad games and you were all over him, on the worst performance of the year by anyone you seem reluctant to criticize kj. I'm just wondering why shaq and not kj shaq is 3rd on the team in offensive rebounds.

I said start Cobb and Caupain together when Cobb started Caupain came off the bench and didn't do jack that's why we lost.

Cobb amd kj are both going to get minutes... We have no other options.

Id take cobb over kj starting.

Also. I think g would take kj minutes if he was playing

My thing with Shaq is that he is coming off of a year where he started every game and is in his 4th year. If KJ is still this inconsistent after 50 career starts, I'm sure he'll start to receive a lot more grief.

Worst performance of the year by anyone came in a road win? I highly doubt that. I don't even know if it was KJ's worst game. What are you basing this on?

22 mins 0 points holding the ball in the corner and not doing anything with it and letting shot clock get down to under 7 seconds like 6 times. When kj is on offense and he can't make a shot I cringe, he is the worst passer on the team as well
