You know Bulldog, I wouldn't be surprised....lol.

All credit should go to Jacob and Waite, and yourself as well. You guys all kept this debate going for what is now 44 pages, and look what happened.

I called rubles out last year on here before senior night he career game

I agree with you LT, whatever the reason it is good to see and the two starting guards had 11 assists between them.

Coach Davis said that in practice they practiced extensively on pushing the ball. They would inbound the ball and set the shot clock for 11 seconds. They had to get a shot off before the clock expired. It worked last night. I hope they don't stray away from pushing the tempo.

I love it

I hope those 44 pages can carry us through against Tulane. I got nothing left. Lol

Speeding up is fine. But the defense was worse because of it.

I think this goes back to what some of us have been saying. Maybe the defense wasn't top notch, but notice UCF still only scored 60. So for our standards, it wasn't our best. But a team like UCF is never going to just absolutely torch us. They're UCF. So we treated the game like it was Cincinnati vs. UCF and played loose and put on a show. There is a time and place to clamp down in every game, and sometimes it's necessary for an entire game. But teams like UCF, Tulane, ECU and Houston are never going to score in the 70s on us. So even though the defense wasn't awesome, I'll gladly take the 23 victory every now and again over a first to 50 rock fight in every single game.

We're 12-8 when neither team scores 70. And 7-1 when either scores 70. I bet that goes to 8-1 tomorrow.

After yesterdays performance KJ once again find himself with a higher FG % and 3 point % than Cobb. Watching those 2 play all year and I just can't believe that is true.

It would be nice if both could be hot at the same time, maybe it will come in March.

But it really doesn't matter who shoots what % or whatever. I think the important thing we have to realize is players go through streaks and while somebody can have a really rough stretch (KJ breaking out of one, Sanders in a big one, Shaq had one for most of the year, Caupain in a slight one) there will come a time when each player is needed and each guy has stepped up for the team at one point or another.

This team has had plenty of chances to quit but they haven't, somebody has come through each time the team was getting in a real bad funk. It is nice to see.

KJ took wide open shots. Cobb took wide open shots. TC's one 3 pointer was on a wide open look off a missed shot.

Aggression and unselfishness. The team appears to be getting better and playing more loosely and confidently.

Here's a shocking stat:
UC vs. Tulane/UCF (1st gms): 16 total assists on 41 made FG
UC vs. Tulane/UCF (2nd gms): 38 total assists on 58 made FG

So they've gone from assisting on about 39% of their made FG to 66%. Roughly the same amount of attempts overall, but a more aggressive, unselfish offense leads to better shot selection and more makes. The "tempo" hasn't really changed in terms of shot volume, but the efficiency has gone up exponentially.

I like the point that you and L-T make about us being so high and low at points with every player. Just at the beginning of this thread a few weeks back, I said I wasn't comfortable with a Sanders/Shaq 25/15 split...and I meant it as Shaq getting LESS minutes than that. Craziness. KJ looks comfortable off the bench. He has really struggled on the road at times, good to see him stay within himself.

I love going against an unset defense. It makes such a huge difference.

That is what Mick said would be the case at the seasons start. Hopefully they find some consistency. Things have looked good but can they do it against Tulsa?

The first game Cobb and Caupain started together, TC had the 3 fouls and they ended up combining for 4 in the game. In the 4 games since, they have 4 total fouls combined in 250 minutes.

Waterhead, we're at 68.2% from Ellis and Clark combined at the line. You think they can bump that up in the postseason? It'll be close.

Jacob, this 46 page thread is like your shrine. You fought hard for Cobb to start and for the team to start pushing the pace. You were battered and bruised midway through the thread. Waite was hitting you with left and right hooks and I thought you were going to fold. But, your stamina pulled you through and you earned the right to post these stats and gloat a little bit. With Cobb starting and the pace a little faster, we're generally scoring a lot more points, our margin of victory seems to be getting a lot better, and we're on a nice winning streak at a time when it counts! Congratulations on keeping this thread alive long enough so you could enjoy the fruits of your labor!
