If we want to win an conference championship, our offense needs to noticeably improve. Right now we are scoring 1.03 points per possession in conference, and we are in the middle of the easy part of the conference schedule (conference SOS ranks 10th right now). Louisville ranks 1st at 1.12 points per possession right now. If we could get to 1.10 points per possession, we would have a great chance at the conference title with our defense. And quite frankly, a run to the elite 8/final 4 would not be out of the question. Without a step forward there, we are probably playing for 2nd in the conference and a sweet 16 as our legitimate ceiling.

Offense has jumped about 30 spots in the past few weeks, seems like the boys are getting more efficient. That game against a horrible defense like Temple certainly helped.

It's amazing how consistent the Defense has been. It's been in the 3-5 range most if not all of the year.

Another interesting Kenpom stat is the AdjT (adjusted tempo) which is "An estimate of the tempo (possessions per 40 minutes) a team would have against the team that wants to play at an average D-I tempo." - It's the possessions per game stat.

The Cat's AdjT is 64.2 (ranked 302).

How nice is it that we don't have to sweat out an NCAA invite this year. Can't remember the last time that we went into February thinking about where we might be seeded rather than if we will make it to the dance. The credit belongs to the coaching staff and players. Hope our fan base can give them the support that they deserve the rest of the home schedule.

Still have to take care of business. There is a bigger picture here. Can't get in the national spotlight and lose at home to USF. The Cats have done great focusing on game to game situations. Success is hard to handle. I think the leadership of JJ, SK, and TRub will ensure the team stays focused.

Amen. In terms of national respect Cronin said all this means nothing if we go lose to USF. Outsiders are just waiting to say"I told you so". I am confident this UC team has their mind right and won't take anyone lightly. Its the first time in a long time I have felt comfortable saying that.

if you heard Connor Barwin talk about how intense MC was you have had that feeling awhile ago. He said MC was very demanding and intense. Even when the talent level was at its lowest. Described him as one of the hardest working guys he has ever played for.

Its awesome. Also what I love is with how in tune and aware Cronin is with the ways things are today. In regards to social media and how the national media etc perceives college basketball as a whole. How the Dukes, Cuse, Ohio St etc can lose and still be recognized and how we have to just keep working and ignore all that. It doesn't matter what is being said about us. He has set the expectations and tone at UC and we just now are seeing the benefits. What's awesome is we have 3 amazing seniors who are helping plant that mind set in our freshman and it turns into a positive cycle. This is how top level programs are built and sustain everything. Its also kudos to the coaching staff for getting kids who believe in his philosophy.

I'm not the best at explaining that via words but I think you guys know what I am trying to say lol.

What is happening is they are establishing a culture of winning and a pattern for how you win (hard work). The freshman class sees this. The next generation leaders of Sanders, Guyn and Thomas see this. The recruits coming in see it and people they are recruiting see it. I love it.

Next season will be very interesting without the 3 of them!
A JJ only comes along every 10 years, or so (see KMart).
Titus is silent but deadly. Another who comes along maybe every 7 years (see Rashad Bishop or maybe even Ruben Patterson).
SK is a true leader but may be easier to replace. But the quality of his character will not be equaled. He is a great representative, player/spokesman for the Cats. Who's going to play the minutes he does with those kind of results? Who's going to show up with those kind of work ethics?
Nobody here now has shown their hand as a leader (possibly because you can only have one leader at a time (SK).

I'm all for praise, but let's get real. Ruben was an All-American.

And SK will definitely be the toughest to replace. You can argue JJ, but as you were saying, SK brings far more than just his talent and skills. I have no idea who will step up to be the leader when he leaves.

If Cincinnati beats UCF, Houston, Louisville, Memphis and loses to Connecticut they will finish at 27-4 (16-2) with an RPI of 9. I project they'll be a 2 seed if that happens.

They have Rutgers away the last game

Don't forget about the conference tourney. Will have to face more tough competition there as well, unless god forbid they lose their first game.
