If Cincinnati beats UCF, Houston, Louisville, Memphis and loses to Connecticut they will finish at 27-4 (16-2) with an RPI of 9. I project they'll be a 2 seed if that happens.

3 things on my wish list to finish this season strong.

We still need a player or two outside of SK and JJ who are going to assert themselves offensively on the court...EVERY game. I honestly don't care who it is at this point or how many points they score...just be assertive.

We need our freshmen to start playing better because we know they have it in them. We need to be at least 8 deep with quality players so we can press and keep fresh legs. Caupain and Lawrence (because of their positions) are the most critical but we could definitely use a confident Johnson as well.

If we are in a hostile environment against a good team we need to slow the game down and stop turning it over. You can't energize the crowd in those games.

Enjoy your break...Get that SWAG back...and have some fun out there.

Sounds good to me waterhead! Couldn't agree more.

Assuming we get a big lead on HOU and/or UCF (and that's a big assumption), Cronin should sit SK and let the team figure out just who will take command and score. If they squander the lead, put SK back on the floor. But, at least, somebody will be forced to shoot, the team will be forced to work the ball into the paint, etc. As long as everyone defers to SK repeatedly, there will never be a player to take the incentive. Simple as that. Now, getting the big lead....................

I know the competition has gne up a notch but it seems to me the team was playing it's best when TC and KJ were getting time. If for no other reason than the fact that people were fresher. SK playing 37-40 minutes a game has to wear on him especially with carrying the load he is. KJ seems to score when he gets some time either off offensive rebounds or cuts to the basket.

I agree. Those two need to step it up. We truly were at our best when they were contributing solidly. It seems like TC's body language has not been good the past few games. I hope this week has given him a chance to get out of that rut. I think their pay surprised some teams the first time we played. There are no surprises the second time around and UC needs to realize that. Teams will make changes and we will have to adjust and do better as well.

More practice time should give them confidence. Mick had all three freshman on the floor against Memphis so he clearly trusts them. They just need to get the confidence back.

Unfortunately, you just can't will someone to get better. They are at a point in their basketball maturation where it may take them the whole summer to be ready to step it up. Don't expect any miracles. They definitely need more playing time as I said in my earlier post. Hopefully we can get a comfortable lead in the next 2 games so that they can all be on the floor for more minutes.

Not surprising the freshman hit a wall. Tougher competition, no breaks (until now) I expect this week to do them good and they'll play better.

I really hope this coming home game against Houston is a game the Cats play solidly ahead and Sk can get even more rest with this week off. Could be a perfect game to get KJ and TC going again, but sometimes you never know with this team and it could be a dog fight till the end Saturday.

Cincy isn't going to have many beginning to end blowouts. There aren't enough offensive options at this point in the players development. That's why numbers and wearing teams down with physicallity is important.

I agree. Unless we are playing the Kensaw St. teams UC will not be blowing out any team the rest of the year. They aren't built for 20 point wins over teams, usually.

Amazing how these numbers differ this late in the year when we haven't played a game in between these two dates. Also interesting our power numbers went up and our average seed went down.

Differences in the computer rankings are sometimes just fractions of a point, so it doesn't take much to move up or down a half dozen places.

Outside of the top 10, I'd say that you could take almost any group of 5 consecutive teams in the rankings and the teams would be effectively equal. To me, moving a couple of spots is basically the same as no change.

Yep, that is why you see Cincinnati drop (or rise) by 20-30 spots in Offensive or defensive efficiency.
