A win is win. I was glad we built a little lead when JJ went down with his fourth foul. I expected Rutgers to go on a run. Apparently they were done scoring. I'll credit our D. Maybe they were tired by the end of the game. We had JJ, Rubles and SK on the bench and we still managed to slowly extend the lead. I thought the refs were horrible. I saw one of the worst moving screens ever when someone for Rutgers sprinted across the court to cut off SK while guarding the ball. They called just about everything else though. Three players for Rutgers fouled out. We shot over 30 free throws. That was the difference in the game. I really like the way we have gotten to the line this year. One last note, SK has to quit shooting threes. He was 1-10 making only his last attempt, I counted 1-11. They might not have counted his heave at the end of the shot-clock. Most of his misses resulted in long rebounds and fast breaks for Rutgers. He was benched twice by Mick for taking bad threes. He needs to attack the rim more until his shot falls again. If Rutgers weren't inept to close out the game we might have lost that game and one could only point to his shooting as to why. I understand shooters get hot and cold, but he has been cold for a while and when you're 0 for a game you can't keep chucking them up.

I was at the game. The refs were absolutely horrible. My problem with them is they were not consistent. It didn't matter though bc we kicked Rutgers a$$ in the 2nd half. Go uC. We made our run without JJ or SK. Caupain is the truth!!!!!!

TC is a very good ft shooter, but like everyone has hit a bit of a tough streak. He made a living at the line in high school and I believe hit 21 in one game. He'll be fine at the line I promise you.

Shaq I think has really picked his game up the past 4-5 games and I say that in spite of the Houstone gamet. The production from the 3 spot has been really good between him and Sanders.

Rubles is the teams glue guy. He does all the dirty stuff nobody talks about but without it you don't win. Twenty seven rebounds the last 3 games.

Isn't it great to say it was an ugly win and yet win by 20? I sure think it is.
Jeff really think Shaq's problem is he try's to avoid contact instead of seeking it. MC yanked him last night after he went strong to the hoop off his dribble and tried a up and under lay in at the rim which he missed. Instead of getting two foul shots it was a missed opportunity. It was obvious MC's plan in the second half was to drive the lane. The next time he drove the base line he threw it down. Obviously MC's wrath had the proper effect.

KJ is very good at getting in the lane and drawing contact. The more I see him the more I think he is going to be a good player. He has no fear driving the lane and getting fouled.

Your spot on about Rubles. Forget points he does everything else.

Not concerned about SK. He isn't forcing shots. The looks he is missing are good shots just not falling. He is still getting to the foul line and converting.

I met SK after the game. He was at Keystone with some of his family. This was the first time I met him. What a class act (which we already knew).

I was there also, I meet Troy. He said Mick texted him that they were gonna be #20 after that win. Don't know how he knows that already, but Id take 20. Keystone is great, love the Mac and cheese.

Shaq is the most unathletic athletic person ever... When he gets into the paint why doesnt he just try to dunk the basketball, he will get fouled? Instead he does all this unathletic stuff that gets pitched...

I am sure they are aware, but the coaching staff has to work with him on going up strong. I think he needs more reassurance from them. It's strange watching him play because he appears fearless driving to the basket, but tenses up once he gets to the rim. He could draw just as many fouls as Kilpatrick if he would just go straight up with two hands and try to throw it down every single time. He got way up on that dunk at the end of the game.

I'm sure the coaches instruct him daily about going strong to the rim. As I mentioned earlier in thread he got yanked after driving to the basket and instead of going strong he tried to avoid contact and missed shot and didn't get to the line. Hardly think what is lacking is reassurance from staff, more like a set of balls. His throw down at end of game was probably a result of MC pulling him for not going strong.KJ doesn't have a problem going strong to the goal and he gets the same coaching.

His problem probably stems from the fact that he went to a bunch of different High Schools so he wasn't continually under one coach. He's got the natural ability, it just needs to be channeled in the right direction. He's coming around, but it's not a continuous (parabolic) learning curve. He's not a detriment to the team. Definitely an asset.

I think it's more a issue with his physical strength. In High School with his size and length he probably just jumped over people. He can't do that on this level. I agree with you he is making progress. It just takes some longer then others.

His body frame is long and lanky. Don't know how much he can bulk up although he can increase his strength with proper conditioning. You have to have a little mass to start if you want to bulk up. If you start lean, you'll stay lean.

CaptDale been a power lifter and now a body builder for many years. With the proper blend of Nutrition, cardio and lifting you can add lean muscle mass but it ain't easy and it won't happen overnight. You can add body weight but lean muscle is another matter.I just did a competition in October. My training schedule was 24 weeks long. My body weight started at 187 lbs and I was about 16 percent body fat. The day of the competition I was a flat 150lbs with 5 percent body fat. It takes lots of hard work and a ton of discipline.

After I did the Body for Life Program years ago, I wondered why my bulk didn't increase. My competition body-builder friend advised me that I had reduced my body fat so much that I wasn't going to bulk up, just maintain what I had built during the program. I was like you (only smaller). I went from 167 to 150 lean and cut. Maybe because I was so old (50 at the time) it had something to do with it. Nice to hear the perspective from another competitive body builder. I never competed, and now work out only to maintain (and fit in my 32" waist pants - my size forever). So hopefully there's a chance that Shaquille can bulk up. I know he can increase his strength. It added distance to my driver on the links, for sure.

At our age you have to be careful to avoid injury. The key is nutrition. I just turned 60 in October. I've given up the heavy lifting. I'm getting ready to start another cycle. Going to compete in the Nationals in July.I really got started in weight training because I found at a certain age I couldn't compete as I once did but lifting allowed me to extend the window. Again Nutrition is 90 percent of the game.

That's what I fight all the time since if it tastes good, it's no good for you.
You hit my current philosophy on the spot - work out so as not to injure yourself. I'm 66 so I only lift if it doesn't hurt (210 max bench). Some ex I can no longer do because I can feel it's not good for me.
Good luck in the Nats. My Dad won a Gold Medal in the Senior Olympics in racquetball. I couldn't score 5 points off him. Frustrated the hell out of me.

Was that dunk by ST at the end as good as I remember? Kinda took me by surprise and I was a little drunk lol.

It's definitely one of the top 3 on the year for me. JJ's put back dunk and JL's one dribble dunk are the other two that stand out for me. His dunk was awesome!! Can't wait for Mormon...I feel he's going to be a higlight dunk reel.

Predictions? Things you're hoping to see?

I'm going with a 72-52 win for UC. Rutgers has been pathetic, sitting at 7-8 with some BAD losses (UAB, Drexel, William & Mary, Fairleigh Dickinson, etc.). They only lost to UL by 7 but I'm going to call that a fluke. I think UC has this one in hand from the start.

Has anyone heard anything about Guyn's health? Think he'll be okay to play? I know Lawrence is still out for a little while.

I rarely toot my own horn here, but I was damn close with my prediction lol, just one point over for each team. Although I was off in the fact that UC had it in hand from the start

Here are the highlights, skip to the end if you want to see the big Shaq dunk:m.youtube.com/watch?v=F9G6WHMgEh0
