I remembered BH saying that about Rod Flowers as well. Anyone else hear Cronin say that Rubles was the best player he ever recruited? He has said it a few times this year.
Is that sarcasm? I've never heard him say anything close to that.

I have a feeling Mick has lowered the bar over the years.
You've admitted as much before that you are a perfectionist so to speak with what you expect from this team, at least you look at the flaws and don't make excuses for them. And that's fine, I think we've come to know that about your game assessments. But by your own admission, if we've played the same the last five games or so, how is it a step back every time? I'll admit maybe we haven't taken a step forward, although I've seen some improvements we can point to, but I don't see the team regressing.
I admittedly did not see the NM game. I was at bowl game and unfortunately just could not watch it. So I can't speak for that game. The St. John's game was a classic, we did not come to play tonight scenario. Inexcusible? Most definitely, but in reality all teams have those. I think the reaction to the ND loss was overexaggerated on this board. Ranked team came in playing well and we lost. We did some things well and didn't do some things well, we hung around and lost a close game. I think what was worse was that it came after losses we shouldn't have had. If we beat St. John's I think we react completely different to losing to ND. Yesterday's game was a tough, gring it out win. We maintained a double-digit lead just about the whole game and matched every run they had. We put up 68 in a half-court, shot-clock game. Have we progressed? I would say no. Have we donesome things differently and done some things well? I'd say yes. We are in a rut. It's a stretch of the season where you're past the easy early season and you haven't hit the intensity of late Feb/March. Teams get run down, injuries become nagging, excuses, excuses, blah, blah, blah. Find ways to put a game in the W column and wait until the team as a whole finds it's rythm.
If you arent getting better, youre getting worse. We can hype Rutgers up all we want, but by years end they will be in the bottom half of the BE. It was a good opportunity for us to come out and get things rolling, not just pick up a win
When we were beating the piss out of those crap teams early in the season, I had the same analysis. Many on here said I was nuts and I wasnt watching the games. I also said the inability to put the ball in the hoop will cost us some games. Well we held a team to 55, 53 and a good ND team to 66 and LOST.
What is our record again?
Maybe he did say that about Land but I don't remember it....He did say it though about Rod Flowers, which is a even bigger yikes. Eugene was actually a hell of a player before he destroyed his knees.

The last undefeated team in the country just held a very good team to 56 and LOST.
Since the #1 and #2 teams didn't get any better this week I guess their season is a lost cause too? Syracuse just played three unimpressive games in a row against USF, Providence, and Nova. Cancel the season.
Your expectations would alarm a UK fan! Not everyone has to be optimistic, but at least be reasonable.
Other teams dont have problems like we do SCORING. You know the main objective of the game. You put the round thing through the cylinder thing. The team that scores more wins

R2G, it doesn't matter how much you score as long as you hold the other team to less than you. My goodness dude, the offense is ugly and in spite of that UC is 14-3 and the 3 losses are by a combined 8 points. The team is what it is. Try to enjoy winning because this team isn't suddenly going to be an offensive power house. They will win with defense all year long, even on nights they score. I'm not sure what you're wanting. People agree with you. It is what it is. This team will only go as far as defense takes them. Mick has said that many times.
The team that scores more wins, really? Unless you play at Rutgers, lead the entire game, and win by double-digits. That's not good enough.
Other teams might not have scoring problems, but they still have enough problems to be in the loss column. According to you that's unacceptable because you have to get better every game. I guess this will be another fraudulent championship in your books with no undefeated, perfect team.
You stick to your reasoning and Ill stick to mine. And thats fine. We'll just be an average team.
You want to sit here and talk about being 14-3 and other teams struggling, but what have you seen that gets you so excited about this team?
UC may be average but they beat XU by 15!
Per my old friend George Wilson, if you beat X you had a good season.
Year to year each team is different. RG2 wants to see a offense installed. It is installed and we have been running it. Unfortunaitely we are limited in what we can run because we have no post scoring or even a threat. Our offense is based on spreading the floor and scoring off penetration or kick out jumpers. We also score off our D and offensive rebounding which is the strength of our team. Thank Gosh our coach understands this and patterens our team to it's strengths. Mick has to develope his team around the players he can get to come to UC. He has been very successful at it. Landing a kid like Lawrence would be huge. We all have seen how effective this team is when we get production out of Rubles/Jackson to go along with Parker,Cash and SK. The game becomes much easier for those three when they get help from the 4 spot. The key to being a good coach is playing to your teams strengths. RG2 thinks you can put in a system and the players should excel at it. He is in make believe land. You also have to coach around the type of kid you can get to come to UC. As Mick gets more National exposure he will get bettter athletes. Right now I love watching this team. They play hard and get after it. You better be ready to go to war everynight if you want to beat them. If you can't enjoy watching this team your aren't a UC fan.
