We need at least 8 players if no one else leaves. I don’t care who is recruiting, you aren’t getting 8 really good players in one class. You take whatever decent players you can get and sprinkle in a couple good ones.

Just a lot of smoke right now. Leaves me to believe we have no heard the full story. Or a donor stepped up to pay the buy out.


If it comes to fruition, it will be the best news we’ve had all offseason. It’s a fresh start. And we will be hiring to replace a loser not hiring to replace a consistent winner.

It may not work out. But it’s better than watching John try to dig himself out this hole he dug

It is frustrating as hell. I’m also fine either way.

But yea just get it over with either way.


That said. If this was strictly a performance based firing, I’d hope it would move faster. But being as JC is likely trying to find cause/negotiate a buyout, then I understand the wait.

But if John is the coach then just say it and let’s get players and try to
Win next year. If John is leaving then let’s do the exact same thing.

Archie has an elite 8 too. John has never even beaten a power 5 team before coming to cincy.


And even after 2 years with UC he has 1 power 5 win.

Clever one though - his bio says he covers college basketball for WKTY-TV, which doesn't exist but google auto-corrects to WKYT-TV, a real station in Lexington. Add some journalism sounding phrases like "per source" and "developing story", and you've got ESPN Louisville falling for it. Had me fooled for a minute. I hate that Twitter is how news is broken these days.

New BCJ podcast is out and at the 1 hour mark they discuss the situation.

He was dropping some subtle hints about why both sides would remain quiet (lawyers) and they would be discussing either for cause/a buyout,

Which all makes sense.


Something bigger happened.

Maybe UC never spills the beans so John can be hired again. Maybe that’s apart of the negotiations. I dunno


But man, it is a real shame, because if the season ended (even on that sour note) and no one transfers then I would be pretty excited about who we can add in this offseason to compliment our young guys.


Now it’s exciting but in a completely different way.
