I think chad tweeted something like 74 schools have 5 or more players in the portal. There are slot that have 7+. One team has 15

I get that but we don’t want to be in this group when we have a new coach rebuilding. There has to be more to fire though.

Let him know what he’s doing wrong and see if he can adjust

Agreed. I mean we should all agree that this year with covid protocols and transfer rules is strange for most programs. Seems like that’s being glossed over in Brannen getting railroaded

All dumpster fires....lol. Mike white has a job on his hands at Florida
Honestly, I feel like we have to move on from brannen at this point. I think the guy can coach and recruit. He finds really good players but something is going on. In a normal year, these players probably stay because they aren’t sitting in their dorms constantly, and are out having fun outside of basketball. It’s kind of bad luck, mixed with brannen approaching it wrong but there isn’t really a playbook for how to handle a pandemic. At this point, there is no putting the toothpaste back in the bottle. Probably best for everyone to move on.

I wouldn’t be completely opposed to him coming back. Like I said, I don’t think this happens in a normal year but I don’t see him coming back, so let’s quit wasting time

Agree. The time waste is the biggest issue at this point. But I think Cunningham’s failure to see what is going on in college basketball at all these schools is ridiculous.

Cunningham just wants him out. Which is okay. What's not okay is him willing to railroad the entire program to do so.

Let's say they can't find cause. Then what? John has to sell recruits on 2 yrs left on a contract? Knowing full well that the atheltic department will just get rid of him then? This is such a mess.

Say they do get rid of him... Whose better that will come in? This screams kimani young who worked with cunningham prior. Is that really what we want?

We aren't going to get a homeurn hire. It's not going to happen. They will have to take a chance on someone. And it's very possible we end up in the same or worse spot.

I'd lean Archie as the most realistic option.

This is my point. None of these resumes are better than John. That's the reality. Cunningham is destroying everything.

Give this a listen. Start at around 4:26 and listen to the Learning to Mark Few and Scott Drew segment. John Jakus talks about how culture and relationships matter more than X's and O's. You probably already know that, but it seems like you are in denial.

Brannen is the problem, he created the problem. His resume is good, but his culture is toxic. Most of the players don't like him, quite a few of the staff don't like him. You can't build a team with a toxic locker room, no matter how well you coach X's and O's.

The players aren't soft, Brannen failed to cultivate relationships, failed to build a program where players felt welcome and accepted and overall failed to do everything off the court a coach is supposed to do.

Maybe... Then speak to every guy talking sb wanting to quit under hugs? Talk ab why 75 teams have 5 or more in the portal.

I think there it's clear there is a combination of issues here. John surely needs to adjust to an extent. But this is not all John.

Covid. Transfer rules. John being tough. Kids being soft. ALL these things play a part.

One staff member said he didn’t like him, that’s quite a few? His “culture is toxic” like you embellish everything, it makes it impossible to take you serious.

Again, how many of those other teams have players speaking out, saying they are leaving because of the coach? How many of those teams having staff leaving because of the coach? How many of them are anonymously reported to have both current players and staff who dislike the coach?

Look, lots of things contributed. But most of those aren't going away. That means relationship building becomes even more important. Brannen has shown he is not the coach for relationship building.

Guys didn't quit (much) because Huggs built off-court relationships. They didn't quit (much) under Cronin because he built off court relationships. Brannen's players and staff seem to prefer to avoid him off court and that is a major problem.

What players have spoken out? We have heard two things... Coach wouldn't allow orange slices from the parents and practice was too hard lol.

They didn't quit under huggins because they couldn't. The transfer rules are insane.

You literally pick and choose everything to fit your narrative. Wasn’t it Keith Williams who said multiple people wanted to quit every year but didn’t... not because of the coach, but because of their teammates. And probably compounded with having to sit out a year, now these guys can go wherever they want, not lose a year of eligibility on top of that, but no it’s cause Brannen can’t be nice

Given the actions of the former players trashing guys for transferring, I'm not that fond of former players right now. It's a bad look and probably disqualifies them consideration if Cunningham is trying to convince transfers to come back. The former players should have waited until they actually knew the facts (which we still don't).

Erik Martin wasn't a part of it, but his association with former players is probably enough to keep our guys in the portal away. NVE isn't coming here, Chad has said multiple times, adamantly, that Pinto has no interest in NVE or Pitino. Not going to happen.

The only person media wise who has done a great job so far is Justin Williams with his reporting. Covered both sides, stayed unbiased.

You’re absolutely insane

Kevin Johnson said that. I believe skyblade is biased as he wanted Brannen gone well before any of this. He has just made this his platform now and posts novels about it. That being said if the ad has never talked the coach then what kind of investigation is that? If he hasn’t talked to the returning players, assistants, graduates then what kind of investigation is that.

Skyblade makes it seem like only the freshmen’s perspective matters. Even then, all 6 of the transfers or others who have left most likely have their individual reason. Not some collective reason. Sorrila didn’t leave for the same reason gabe did.

I agree completely, I said before I think Eason and Harvey always planned on leaving, maybe something helped push them, Saunders was the most confusing, but other than that, I believe it’s all individual reasons, and the ease of ability to transfer this year. I’m not saying Brannen has no fault, or is a perfect angel, or even the guy I want to be our coach. But making him out to be possibly racist, a liar, a manipulator, all around toxic, there’s just absolutely no basis for all that. Complete speculation he’s stating as facts.

I think it would be hard for Cunningham to go rogue because of a vendetta without evidence. He has other people to answer to. If he goes rogue he’s risking his job. If they are forcing John out....it’s got legs. If they pin it on a technicality after reviewing player allegations it’s going to stink to high heaven.

If multiple high level people F this up they ALL need to go. New AD and new board.

I’m guessing it must be bigger than practice minutes. If not I would stand behind Brannen before I would the board.

Per Chad, Cunningham and Pinto are in lockstep. This isn't Cunningham going rogue. It's Cunningham, the Board of Trustees and Pinto joined together.

They aren't going to reveal anything to the public until afterwards (if ever). It's possible there is more to the story.
