Ok. Then don’t be surprised if your football coach sees how you treat your employees and future basketball coaches. Good luck. Basically creating violations to get out of a contract. If you suck, we are going to find cause so we don’t have to pay you, but sign right here

Simple, don't suck. More specifically, don't suck so badly that over half your team leaves, one of your coaches leaves and sources indicate that there are current players and coaches that don't like you. So badly that the multiple players request an investigation into Brannen (again, quite possibly including players currently on the team).

Brannen is the one who created the mess. Brannen was screwed in recruiting even before the UC announcement was made. Brannen burnt the team down.

Cunningham is trying to clean up the disaster that Brannen created and he quite logically doesn't want to pay Brannen 5 million to get rid of him.

Yes. I've seen enough. Cunningham had weeks to get this done. Now we are bringing in a third party because he couldn't.

Rushing to judgement. The investigation started 4-6 weeks ago, it is finished. There are three possibilities.

1) This is a formality, the independent investigation will conclude quickly. Brannen will be fired one Monday/Tuesday with cause. Cunningham did everything correctly and by the book. Ideal result (and the one that I think is most likely).

2) UC has something, but not enough. This is an effort to hamstring Brannen and pressure into negotiating a settlement. Brannen takes a settlement and walks. Seems unlikely based on Chad's reports that Cunningham hasn't talked face-to-face with Brannen. Cunningham's seat should probably be getting hot in this case.

3) UC has nothing (or something, but not enough). This is an effort to hamstring Brannen and pressure into negotiating a settlement. Brannen refuses to take a settlement, UC can't afford 5 million. Brannen coaches here for another year or two under a massive cloud. In this case, Cunningham should be fired.

Being the (temporary) optimist. I think UC investigated, found cause and is just going through formalities. This isn't just Cunningham's decision, but also the admin and even possibly the UC president. As I've said, it's hard to believe they would all screw this up. The only way it hasn't been screwed up is if they have cause (even if it is a technicality).

One of your more coherent posts...

John clearly doesn't think there is cause. If he did he would take the buyout. John isn't a dummy by any means.

Per Chad, Brannen probably doesn't know much more than we do. Contact between Cunningham and Brannen/staff has been no more than a few text messages. Calls from Brannen's lawyers have not been returned.

When the independent fact finding concludes (it might already be done), that is when they go to Brannen.

Hopefully that conversation is something short like. "We've got enough to fire with you cause, take a token amount to not sue and prevent everything from being released to the public".

I’m positive brannen has an idea what they have considering he’s the one that did or didn’t do the things. I’m guessing he knows what he did or didn’t do. Just a hunch.

If I'm Brannen I'm hiring some good lawyers. No way I'm leaving without full buyout. You want to play games. Let's play.

He knows what he has done, but he doesn't know what UC has found and what they are going to use to justify firing him for cause. He's going to wait and see what they have/plan to use against him before he signs any settlement.

If he knows he didn’t do anything that bad, he’s playing it out. My guess If he did something awful, he’d take the buy out. It’s be an interesting strategy if he didn’t knowing there is something.

As long as he signs the settlement before he is fired with cause, I dont think anything will ever be publicly released. I'm sure that will be part of the settlement.

Make UC do the leg work and show him what they've got. Only then does he make a decision.

Dude

If John Brannen was accused of beating up Sam Martin, the University would still absolutely call in a 3rd party investigator.

WSU called one in for Marshall and it took a few weeks.

Firing with cause requires a third party investigator so it doesn’t seem like you are Bias,

Look we absolutely need Cunningham to win this battle.
If he doesn’t :
-UC either retains a bad coach with cards stacked against him.
Or
-uc fires and has to pay 5 million which takes away money from new coach & potential hurts facilities that Fickel wants

If we win... it’s no harm, no foul. We have money for new coach, we reset a toxic culture and we start with a new coach in the biggest transfer portal known to man

Doesn’t matter how big or how little. A NCAA violation of rules is a worthy cause. If you’re gonna be a unlikeable Butt hole then you better have a squeaky clean record

Sounds great. Then there is no point in cunningham having a job... Bc.. like you said. Any major decision just gets outsourced.

No.

He makes the final call. He’s outsourcing to make sure he’s seeing all sides.

Literally it’s what a good AD would do.

Whatever the case, John Brannen shouldn’t be the coach. I don’t have any allegiance to Cunningham but Cunningham didn’t run off all these players plus a strength coach

In reality John likely changed after his father passed. He hasn’t adjusted to life without him.

He should take a few years old and get his head right. Learn to communicate and build relationships:

He also needs a third party to conduct an independent review for firing with cause to hold up in court.

Cunningham has done nothing wrong up to the point.
