Coney will be the man behind center next year. That has already been decided. While I am not a huge fan of the so called dual threat quarterbacks, I do have to like what Coney brings to Clifton. Legaux works hard and is a decent back up, but he does not have the physical build that Coney has.

You think they are going to hand over the starting QB job to a Freshman next year and have already decided that before the kid even gets on campus? That is a ridiculous statement. Nothing has been decided for next year and if Coney wants to play as a freshman, he will need to be beat out Legaux and Coyne in spring practice. I am not saying it can't happen but I can tell you that nothing has been promised to anyone at this point.

My insight may have been poorly written and misunderstood. Coney is going to be the QB next season and there are those within the staff that fully "expect" him to be under center at the start of next season. We can revisit my statement next October.

There is no one that would argue that it will be an open competition. If Coney is as good as everyone thinks, then he will have an opportunity to win that job. I wouldn't be shocked to see him redshirt and start as a RS Freshman though. The last 2 games plus the bowl game will go a long way in deciding the future for Munchie. He is under the gun right now and Luallen will have an opportunity to start next this coming weekend if Munchie falters in practice.

We will see what December brings. Legaux is a decent back up, wildcat option for the offense but his pocket skills lack desperately. He will be given an adequate chance from here on out and I hope he shows he is more than his billing allows. Coney will have to do the same once he arrives here, but if Jones is married to this style of offense for the long term, then Coney is his man for 2012.
