If Shaq played you'd move Parker to the 4 like last season.
And hopefully press, but Mick doesn't seem too interested in going 4 guard press for 40 minutes.

I'm sure Parker and Wright could press for short periods of time. We have good guard depth, so we need to use it-alternate taking guys in and out and go full out press the whole game.

Mick sees these guys practice everyday. He has a much better idea of how Shaq would hold up physically playing more minutes than the rest of us. I' m sure the value of having him on the floor as opposed to not having him on the floor has been discussed. Pressing and using more personnell is not in Micks mind a better option. Personally I don't think Cash's knees can't handle the pounding. Gelawn on the floor to run PG is not the answer. Don't know if anyone has noticed but when Cash is not on the floo we do not function very well. heck we don't function well offensively anyway but we are terrible when he is not on the floor. Parker and SK are not ball handlers either. if we are forced to go with GeLawn next year we will be in trouble. he is not a D 1 PG.
Good guard depth! LOL, there is one guard on the bench and that is Guyn.
It is hard to press when two of your guards (Parker and Wright) aren't comfortable doing it. As usual, a swing and a miss from a typical forum loser.

lol.
a poster calling another poster on a message board a loser.
safe to say we have seen who the true loser is. what are you 15? hope so because if you're an adult then your just a sad person.
keep it classy.
not any except cash handle the ball pretty well. When he is not on the floor we are horrible offensively.Didn't say they all were good, but put Sanders, Shaq, Guyn, Rubles, Cash, SK, Parker, plenty of guys who can go out and press. Not all are true guards, but all of them can handle the ball pretty well and could be effective in pressing situations.

Okay jackass, lets see your offense. It looks so good out there right now, why don't you shut up and actually come up with a solution to the problem before bashing everyone else's response? We clearly need a new strategy, almost everyone on here can agree. B-cat Jeff agrees, he has mentioned this many times before. We must think of new ways to overcome the lack of production from the bigs, especially with Cash still hurting and it doesn't look like he will regain pre-injury form. SK has his games, but to improve, we need more reliability and consistency. This offense doesn't work with this team, we must play to our strengths. The biggest strengths of this team are defense and athleticism, so we should use it to help create offense.....

There is no solution to the offense this year. The only way they will score is to continue to attack the basket to get foul shots and hit a decent number of threes that will get the team to 65 points.
Hopefully next year UC will be able to press more, and hopefully a big man will actually step up and provide some sort of scoring threat.
Pressing for the most part is overrated IMO. That isn't this teams issue. They can play uptempo basketball without pressing. I will say though that it is good for altering the tempo of the game and often times this team needs it to give them some energy. But I think pressing leads to a lot of easy points for the other team.
Very true, I guess my bigger concern is not being able to alter the tempo. To be successful, this team needs to fight for every loose ball and give lots of energy. While JJ can drive me insane sometimes, we miss his energy. This team has been very lethargic and his energy provides some good intangibles for this team. I would say the 4 biggest problems this year have been:1) lack of post presence on offense, 2) Cash/JJ injuries, 3)JD3 (we could use a good shooter, he seemed to be coming along) injury, and 4) no other scoring option-nobody on the bench, Sanders, Shaq, Guyn, and Rubles, has provided the consistent scoring we need to overcome the big man problem.
You (and others) are sure big on someone of unknown quantity, JD III. It would have been nice to have had him as another sub so we could, at least see, what (and if) he's capable of doing. Guess we'll have to wait until next year for him to prove himself one way or another. What little I saw of him, I liked his demeanor.
