not trying to start an argument (i'm a little too new around here for that) I never said bishop got into prior trouble--I thought I recalled something happening--and so do you obviously.

again, where is the line? does Integrity remains intact as long as unsavory actions are kept within the closed doors of practice? does the lack of "seriously" disciplining mean mick is running a tight ship?

The image is most certainly better and I tip my hat to coach, however I think if huggins were still around, a lot of the indiscretions of the players on the team would get a harder look.

banned.

But seriously, I agree Huggins would be getting more heat for putting his faith in a kid but that is probably because of his prior history.

Mick has earned the trust of the administration to make these calls because he has proven that he can run a good program

He hasn't proven that yet.

Though there haven't been any arrests...but it's true that hardly anyone is really looking at it now. Plenty left for Mick to do.

Do you mean in regards to winning games or getting the right guys and knowing how to properly dicipline them?

Mick has done a great job graduating players and being strict on them.

I don't get this debate. Alvin Mitchell was sent packing and Bishop was suspended for both the NIT and BEast tournaments. Those are meaningful games. I think that's a fairly solid record. In fact, it is the Bishop suspension that really made me believe Mick had turned a corner in his coaching career.

In the absence of player leaders, the coach has to interject himself more. Most successful programs have self policing locker rooms. Players keep players in check. Mick is placing himself in that void and allowing the players to watch him lead. None of these kids have a connection to the past tradition of this program. I believe one thing that made Jamaal Warren such a good Bearcat was the fact that he was recruited by UC while they were nationally relevant. He understood the culture.

My biggest area of interest this season is to see who steps up and leads this team among the players. I hope it's Gates and Bishop. Gates has the ability to be the face of this program and players respect success. Bishop because he is a senior and has fought back for months to be a part of this team. He understands how brief your college career is.

I also want to see whoever is running the point gather the team and encourage them this season. I'm really interested to see who makes this team theirs, Wright or Parker. I think most of us a agree it'd be best for Wright to be the one to fill this role. His speed and ability to get to the rim adds a different dimension to the team and by cause and effect makes others better.

I agree with you regarding Mick's discipline. Which is part of running a great program.
