Signing Day

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

We are definitely trying to land a big man, but the class is sooo thin at the position. I'm not quite sure there is a JUCO that can contribute at the level necessary to help our team AND eat a 'ship for 2 years.

With that being said, we might have a year or two of "going small" and playing like Nova did with Nardi, Ray, Foye and Kyle Lowry.

G: Cash
G: Dixon/Kilpatrick
G: Parker/Sanders
F: Jackson
F: Gates

Assuming NO Gates leaves us with:

G: Cash (Jr.)
G: Dixon (Sr.)
G: Parker (Jr.)
G: Kilpatrick (R-So.)
F: Justin Jackson (essentially Dante Cunningham like?)

That is just a hypothetical starting line-up. We would be really small, but fast and athletic. Obviously some size would come off the bench with Shaq Thomas (6'6"), Oct Ellis (6'8"), Gaines (6'10"), Jermaine Sanders (6'4"), plus Guyn (6'3") and hopefuly JD (6'2").

Oh my goodness we will be in trouble if gates leaves.

agree, but i would love to run a villanova-esque lineup. will it win us a national title or get us to the final 4? probably not. but i think it is key to be the team creating mismatches, not the one adjusting to them. villanova imposes their will upon teams, and makes the opponent adjust to them and go small rather than vice versa. over the past few years, UC has constantly been adjusting to other teams and switching things up rather than making other teams uncomfortable and change up their gameplans.

We are UC. People adjust to us. (I want this to return).

If you go with that small a lineup, you better have some guys that can shoot behind the arc. I don't know if UC has anyone that can shoot well behind the arc. We'll see soon enough but the exhibition games didn't do much to convince me.

Meeting with his family Friday. Wouldnt expect anything before late Friday but more likely a Saturday announcement is forthcoming.

Wow i think the program is looking up, And to possibly add a player as good as JD this late man things are looking good. I know he is not flashy but to get a kid with his ability as a back up PG now thats what im talking about. Plus Cronin has yet to pull the big rabbit out of his hat. I see a good big in the near future commiting to us too. lets go uc.

Cronin alluded to being optimistic about signing JD this weekend in his press conference covering signing day. That would be a very solid 5 man class.

OK. St. is still in play but the fact that he isnt taking an official visit there would appear to bode well. With recruiting I take nothing for granted till a young man is official. That doesnt happen until you have a signed LOI.
