I haven't read far back to see if anyone else noticed this however: the one takeaway I have from this game that trumps all others is a huge concern for me. After the 5 second call on Capuain on the out of bounds play he was immediately subbed out. I think it was Larry Davis who asked Mick something to the effect of, "What's wrong with Troy". You can read Micks lips when he responded plain as day, "He's f****** petrified". That isn't a good omen when your senior guard seems afraid in a big road game.

Cronin said post game that he's in a bad place mentally and basically checked out after 1 missed shot. Hard to fathom.

Sorry you can't handle the truth about the team WE are rooting for.

I can handle the truth believe me. I watched every game of a 3-24 Bearcat season. Did you ever do that before? Maybe you have I don't know........ In the heat of the battle we all get a little pissed. In the end we are all Bearcat fans. Go Bearcats!

Wow that's not good. May be time to give him extended rest the rest of the regular season and see if it helps him mentally. I'm just not sure why his jumpshot has changed so much between last season and this season.

Now we're lip reading?

As Aaron Rodgers famously said:

RELAX.

It's one game, one the road, against a team who's quite possibly better than us.

I actually thought the game changed when they stopped doubling Gary and he couldn't make them pay. He appeared to get tentative with his shots afterwards - he left several short.

Troy was obviously not good. He'll be ok. We'll be ok. It probably wouldn't hurt this team to stop thinking about the Final Four and regain their focus and intensity.

Go Cats!

This bearcat team will bounce back.

But... that was an awful game by Troy and Washington. And worse yet, Cronin failing to get s time out cost at least 6 points and tons of momentum. His worst coached game of the year.

Time to move on and win out.

What in the hell are you talking about? Lol. The fact you don't find this concerning is a joke. No one is freaking out and not sure where you gathered that from my comment. Let's be honest, Capuain hasn't been right all year and when the head coach makes a statement like that it's not good at all. Re-watch the game and go to the exact point I'm referring to and you'll see exactly what Mick said.

A loss is a loss I suppose. And any loss sucks. Truth is, we had one coming at some point. It's all about how we bounce back now.

Sensitive much???

Those were general comments - other than the lip reading part.

I'll lean on Troy's history of playing well in big moments in other big games rather than decide that he can't cut it because he had a bad night. Too many big moments like Purdue, UK, UConn; even this year with game winner over Marshall, dagger in X game, Tulsa.

Maybe he did wilt under the pressure tonight. Maybe his lack of confidence in his shot will continue the rest of the season.

Maybe.

But I'd bet against it.

Go Cats!

Caupain is an enigma. Sometimes he's hands down our best player, and sometimes I can't wait for him to graduate.

Troy will be fine, I mean seriously how many times has he stepped up in big games for us. He played terribly tonight but this isn't some pattern we've seen with him. Cronin IMO is the most to blame tonight. I thought he let the game get out of control before he ever called a timeout then 3 pretty much right in a row. Was just a bad game for us, I'm not overly concerned though, this team will bounce back, guaranteed.

@JonRothstein
Troy Caupain again shows why he's Cincinnati's ultimate Jekyll & Hyde player. Didn't have a made field goal today against SMU. Unreal.

I know it sounds cliche.

But Im not really sure I want my team finishing out the season and going into the tourney on such a long winning streak.

This is a wake up call. It feels weird to lose.

I think they just need to work on staying intense even when you have the lead.

I thought one of the things that hurt us was going too long in the second half without getting fresh guys out there. I thought our guys looked fatigued when they made the first part of the run. Their guys are used to playing nearly the whole game where we play a lot of guys regularly. That was the longest amount of time without substituting I can think of all year.
