I'm not saying Cobb is the next Jordan, but I think he is better than KJ at this point. And again, probably the most important point is that this UC team really struggles to score and Cobb provides a much better threat IMO than KJ. Cobb needs to cut down his turnovers as well for sure. Though he has also been running backup PG duties which isn't his natural position and has caused some of the turnovers.

I think everybody would absolutely love it if Cobb was consistent and could give us what we need. Unfortunately he seems as streaky as Johnson. Their stats are mighty similar outside of turnover rate.

Cobb - .372 FG%, .769 FT%, .337 3P%, 48.3 eFG%, 50.8 TS%

KJ - .361 FG%, .724 FT%, .296 3P%, 45.9 eFG%, 49.0 TS%

This is after a 2 game hot streak from Cobb and a 2 game extremely cold streak from KJ. 2 games ago all those but FT% would have been flipped.

I think there is no doubt Cobb brings more to the offense, just like there is no doubt KJ brings more to the defense.

I'd personally love to see lineup of Troy, Cobb, KJ, Sanders, Ellis or Clark. Whenever we play with four shooters we typically look better on offense and quicker as an overall squad. I don't understand why more coaches don't use their best offensive lineups when guard play is so vital.

I have liked Cobb and TC together all season. On record saying I think they should play mainly a three guard rotation with KJ being the third.

I like Gary Clark in the line up for his offensive rebounding. He is a good passer but he is just too tentative on offense. When he's aggressive he gets double figures.

Sanders should start and I like Thomas off the bench.

My rotation would include : TC, Cobb, KJ, Sanders, Thomas, Clark, Ellis, Deberry. Everyone else would get clean up or foul trouble minutes. I think those 8 are your best chance to win and advance in the tournament

Great game plan to play Sanders and Thomas together which kept SMU from just packing the paint. Sanders is one of those guys that needs a lot of minutes because he isn't going to do anything spectacularly, but he'll make plays throughout the game.

Can't go 3 guard with our defense. Sanders is as small as we can go on the back line imo. Unless Caupain is a good enough rebounder to play down there?

Cobb & KJ have played identical minutes this year. Overall shooting percentage is almost identical (Cobb better on 3's), but overall, if KJ had made one more basket, they are the same. KJ's D may be better, but at the expense of many more fouls, so I'm not sure that impression holds. Cobb also has almost double the number of boards, and fewer turnovers

What you're all saying (in a roundabout way) is that the performance of this team and the individual players that comprise it is a game-by-game proposition. The effort and (lack of) consistency makes trying to predict a starting lineup or playing time makeup virtually impossible. We know we get back line defense from Ellis and pretty good rebounding from both Ellis and Clark on a consistent basis. Anything else consists of the word IF.

It helped a little watching last night's game that I decided to have no expectations going in. We've seen it all so anything could've happened. 13 turnovers and 11 shots in the 1st half? Sounds about right. 42 point 2nd half with crisp offense? Of course. Shaq hitting a shot clock 3? Naturally.

I say this all the time to younger folks: when I was 16, I thought I knew everything. When I was 22, I was positive of it. In my 30s, it occurred to me that I knew about half of what I thought I did. Now at 44? I've accepted the fact that I don't know anything.

This team is the living, breathing personification of that immutable truth: I don't know a damn thing about College Basketball.

Wouldn't it be nice to see Clark channel a little Danny Fortson attitude? Not a full serving, mind you - just a smidge. Would be great to see him demand the ball a little.

Yes it would. I believe this kid will lead the league in rebounding next season and average double digits.

Shaq made a couple huge prayer shots, I'll give him that. And no offense to him as a person because he seems like a great kid, but I still don't think he is very good nor do I think he had a very good game last night. Just my opinion.
Was reason game was close to begin with. Leaves his man every time on Defense and can't REBOUND.

Not sure if it was touched on earlier but was there a minor altercation between Larry Brown and Caupain at the end of the game? Looked like Troy went to hug him and instead got scolded.
I mentioned it immediately last night

Stats you left out: Cobb 51 rebounds vs. 26 for KJ, which impacts offense hugely
Also, KJ' s defense produced 51 fouls & Cobb only 24...that may lessen KJ's perceived superior defense ....measurables, steals & blocks are a virtual dead heat

Cobb has been a sneaky good rebounder.

KJ doesn't rebound even a little bit, but I honestly didn't think about looking into rebounding stats, I just looked up shooting % since it appears to be assumed KJ is a terrible shooter and Cobb is a good shooter. (both their numbers are really bad).

I like KJ and think he is going to be a really solid player his junior and senior seasons. The difference is Cobb can get hot and carry you. He and Troy should play together. It also allows Troy to be of the ball some which I think is a good thing.
