He only has Houston in because rather than predict a conference champion, he just automatically places whoever is in 1st place in the standings.

Ah your right. I remember seeing that last year when Tulsa was at the top of the conference for a while and he had them in just because of that assumption

Looking over the play by play list, we scored 1 point the final 10:07 of the game.

I don't know that I've ever seen anything like that in a game before.

Last year and the year before, it was actually us who was holding teams to no scoring in the last 5-7 minutes of games. Now we can't score

It was hard to watch. If Cronin really was happy about the game, I won't go into it in this post, but let's just say, that says a lot. If he was just talking it up as a big win to give the guys some confidence, that's just as bad imo bc it shows that our players are so fragile that they need to feel this is a big win for our program.

Coach was talking about how it was close bc of the refs and the fact that they hit some tough shots. But how many times have we seen that a couple tough shots can sink you when you fail to hit 55 points. I remember in the Western Carolina game they had some freshman kid on fire in the 2nd half. If the team that played yesterday faced that, we would have been in a hell of a fight. But instead we were all joking around about it bc we had a comfortable 30 point lead and won 97-72. That game was 77 possessions. We had 9 players playing between 13 and 28 minutes, with Moore playing 9. The game yesterday was 61 possessions, which would rank 351 out of 351 if that was our average. Yesterday's game was nothing to be proud of. We had a horrible game plan offensively. I refuse to believe that us being an inefficient jumpshooting team at times has nothing to do with coaching and strategy.

It's just unreal to read the play by play list. 53 points with 10 minutes left is 70 point pace.

We then missed 4 straight layups, followed by missing 2 straight jumpers, followed by 3 straight turnovers, followed by 3 straight missed 3's, followed by 2 straight missed front ends of 1 and 1's.

Somewhere in the middle of that we went 1-2 from the FT line.

Edit: what is that 13 possessions and 1 point?

We spent 3/4 of the game making 6 shots from the floor (6/25 FG in the 1st half, 0 FG last 10 minutes).

so we should be rejoicing? i don't know how you win a game where that happens.

rejoicing we played such an awful team that they let us win.

If you believe that we have regressed defensively and advanced offensively as I do. I can understand what Mick is saying. He was delighted that the kids played hard and found a way to win in a place that was tough for them without being able to throw it in the ocean. The team gutted out a win on the road.

I just watched the last 7 minutes of the Houston-USF game and Houston almost blew that game as well. USF had the lead to 1 point with 1 minute left.
