Cats trailing at the half 25-23.

Dixon is an idiot. We have the ball, miss, reset the shot clock, Gates grabs the offensive rebound and passes it to Dixon with 25 seconds left. It was tied at 23-23 and we could have held for the last shot but Dixon is an idiot and decides to shoot an awkward shot. He misses, the Bulls hold for the last shot and take the lead into halftime.

It wasn't an awkward shot. It was wide open. He just missed. I have issues with the shot selection of this team in the first half, but not necessarily that shot. I am more pissed Yancy didn't power that rebound up and at least get fouled (though I am sure that the ref 40 feet away would have run in and overturned the call).

I can agree with that, but I still believe he should have pulled the ball down and held for the last shot of the half.

Turnovers adding up for the Bearcats and Dixon - gonna make it hard to comeback. Gates being 0-4 from the field and scoreless so far is not a good sign.

That's fair. I wouldn't have minded him pulling it out but it is hard to pass up wide open shots against USF when you really don't get many of those.

Pretty typical game from the cats. Pretty sure a lot of us saw this coming. Sad they can't speed the game up and play their own style. They are what they are and won't ever change. They play up and down depending on the quality of opponent.

USF does this to EVERYONE. They did it to Syracuse at Syracuse. What makes you think this game would be any different?

This team is pathetic. How does Mick not know they are going to foul there?

Dixon 2 for 10 from the field and he's the guy you want with the ball? I don't care if he's a senior, the ball should be in Wright or Kilpatrick's hands.

.

I disagree with the pundits that UC is a 'lock'. Still have to win games, and I still think we needed 3 of the last 4 to secure a spot (or a run in the Big East tourney) - which means winning the last two is now required.

I realize Dixon averages over 13 points per game but it takes him far more shots than any other player to get there.

If you check that link, he has the second worst FG% on the team, with only Sanders shooting at a worse percentage. I don't understand why we give him that much playing time, and that many shots.

Between Parker and Dixon, Parker has earned more time on the court.

Dixon had almost half of the team's turnovers, not counting that botched run out.

Please stop making excuses. UC plays down to their level of competition, they've been doing it for years now. There is a reason SF hasn't won a game against a BE team with a winning record....well until the bear kittens come to town.

It's sad, but it's true. First team to lose to USF with a conference record greater than .500.

woah, south florida is a good team this isn't a bad loss, cincy had an off game cash and jaquon obviously arn't 100% right now, we lost by 1 point, i don't care what the score was the game was a 1 point game its crazy when we win a game we are the best team in the country and then when we lose a game by 1 at the 5th best team in the conference are coach is terrible.

USF has the best scoring Defense in the league. They play like Miami of OH on steroids. Congrats to them for winning a game they absolutely needed.

UC is still in the tourney.

However I'm not excited at all to play Marquette again...I don't think we really can look forward to anything except the same result we saw in Wisconsin. Which makes Nova the crucial game

This is a game UC was expected to win, could have won, and should have won. They lost. That is a bad loss, whether the committee sees it as one or not.

Does Dixon get playing time and the freedom to take threes because he's a senior? The only person I want taking 25-28 foot 3-pointers is Wright (Dixon hasn't shown the same range).

I think all the negative comments are a little post game venting to blow off some steam. A win would have made selection Sunday a little more comfortable but thankfully the bubble is really weak this year.

I was frustrated with Dixon in this one, but that's what he does. Let's not go all "Xavier" on our guys and pretend we love them when they win and jump ship when things get tough.

I love how people on here try to justify losing. Especially losing to a team we shouldn't have. UC didn't deserve to win that game anyways. You don't play hard for 10% of the game and expect to win. Its still frustrating to watch this lose but its not surprising at all. This team has only played this way hmmmm ever since the season started. I also don't see how everyone thinks this lose isn't that bad because I see a Marquette game that is not looking like a W and a road game against Villanova on senior day. Anyone who isn't concerned is delusional.

Some fans are just content doing the bare minimum to get into the tournament. Their only goal is to get in to the field of 68. What happened to wanting to win the game? I hope the players wanted to win the game today, but they've been hearing in the background that "they're in". Maybe they took this game off, still have to win the games you should win.

That is my biggest complaint towards this system, even in November, teams are only concerned with 'getting in'.

The attitude of winning each game is what continues and will continue to separate the programs like Syracuse, North Carolina and Duke from the second and third tier schools.

.

I'll get it out of the way, I don't feel confident that UC is in the tournament with that win over Louisville. If they only win one of the last two games, and then lose their first game in the BEast tournament, then I think the committee will recognize a poor finish to the season. Meanwhile teams, which have 'been in' for weeks now continue to win games to improve their seed. I can't remember the last time a 12 seed won it all.
