Some really good points on this thread. Bottom line, our effort was there...some dumb mistakes and some inability to score on offense killed us. But it's difficult to say we didn't play hard/tough the whole game on D...but for a few lapses on rebounding.

That being said, we were by far better than USF and should have beat them. Perhaps Cash and Parker are dinged up but I noticed a few things:

-We really didn't do a good job of Yancy getting the ball at all. I paid attention to it because people on this message board disagreed when I said Yancy not moving for it was the reason he didn't get the rock. Yancy could certainly work harder for the ball but the guards did do a rotten job getting it to him when he was open a few times. I stand corrected and it is a failed team effort.
-Related to this, Parker simply shoots or takes it to the hoop too much. When he has an open lane or an open shot, I don't have a problem with him taking it. But too many times, he catches the ball, puts his head down so he can see no one and forces it...or takes an ill advised shot that kills a run. He's gotta just take what's open and realize that he is not one of the main scorers on this team.
-Not sure why Jackson didn't start the second half and play most of it. He was very effective in the first and then Mick reverted to JaQuan. I'm ready to see a lot more of J. Jack in there.
-Our 3s aren't going to hit every game and this is what happens when you are overly reliant on them.
-SK took the ball to the hoop well. No one else really did.

Marquette is going to be tough on Wednesday. I just don't see it happening although we'll all be rooting for it. I think we need 2 wins still to feel secure (including Big East tournament). Anything else, I think we're sweating on Selection Sunday.

Definitely agree about Parker. He doesn't play within himself at all. He needs to realize he is a role player and take the open shot when available, otherwise don't force any shots. Once he puts the ball on the floor his head goes straight down and he doesn't even look to pass it. Leads to way too many tough shots. He airballs way to many shots within 10 ft.

From where I was sitting at the game I didn't like the game plan a whole lot. As much as I am not a big fan of chucking up threes ALL the time...it seemed like we passed quite a few up that were open. Instead we spent a lot of time attempting to drive the lane where USF is stacked with 3 big dudes. It wasn't working the whole game. We should have started taking those open 3 pt looks rather than trying to have our guards shoot over trees in the lane.

There were other issues but for me this is what I seem to notice the most for some reason. Maybe I am wrong.

lmao.

He's playing pretty within himself tonight.

He's the only guy that can get to the hoop consistently and finish. I was thinking the exact opposite of what some of the others are saying. Keep doing it. As for three pointers...like everyone else he should shoot when open.

With South Florida beating U of L at U of L last night, it seals their spot in the NCAA Tourney and makes UC's loss to them on Sunday a good loss.

Most everybody still has USF as barely in. A loss to WVU Saturday and a first game loss in the BEast tournament could still cost them but I think they're dancing. UC and Louisville missed a lot of open shots against them. It just seems like fate. BTW, I think UC is in as well. Even Palm moved them up to an 11 seed.

I was in attendance and happy to try to take my foot out of my mouth. Parker was lights out! Man did we need that.
