I think our defense will be fine. We need to have a focus during this tournament of putting the ball in the basket. The goal for every game should be to score 70 points. If you win 70-69 then your defense was good enough to get the win.

I see Farad as the huge X factor for this team. If he is making shots it opens up the rest of our offense and takes pressure off of Gary and Troy. I think our offense goes as he goes, he needs to be on point and hitting his shots.

If we're looking to win games 55-54 we won't be long for this tourney, especially not with a high powered offense like Oregon waiting in the wings.

Definitely agree on Cobb. If he hits 4+ 3s, we should be in decent shape. I'd like for Evans to be in double figures as well, especially important if he's out there for 40 minutes.

Interesting fact - In St. Joe's 7 losses they have given up an average of 86 points with the low being 74 all the way back in November vs. Florida.

I have not seen them play this year but this would indicate that our slower pace could throw them off of their rhythm. Or it could mean, we need to score a lot of buckets to beat them.

One of the only things I would like to see Troy be aware of more as he is driving the lane is the kick out. Right now that is how we get Farrad (or anyone) perimeter shots. It's hard for Cobb to create 3's on his own. He doesn't have a good step back (probably too short anyway) and doesn't have an ankle breaking cross over.

I agree. I want Troy to continue to drive to the basket. It's opens so much up. But, next step for Troy is to dish it off once he drives to the hoop. If he draws two defenders it leaves a nice drop off to Tay or Clark. Now, if Tay catches the ball cleanly is another story.

Last year Cobb really stood out in some of the bigger games, this year not so much. Due for a big game, and how about 4-5 dunks from Ellis.

On a podcast Chad had with Eric Hicks recently. Hicks said when he has worked with Ellis this year, he pleaded to Ellis to dunk the ball more. Hicks said he is too tall and talented not to dunk everything around the rim. Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, it's probably not going to start just because it's March.

That was a really enjoyable podcast. Loved his Huggins stories and the ron allen stuff was hilarous- "Give me the ball Ron's guarding me"....hope he continues to stay involved, also loved him talking about the family aspect cincinnati has.
-On a side note he is very confident we will be st.joes and honestly thought our physicality would knock off orgeon and get us to sweet 16

I was laughing pretty good too. I was a student at UC from 04-08 so I remember Hollywood Ron real well. He was in a lot of my CJ classes too. Certainly a character. Loved when Hicks called him a "warm up All American" hahaha. Also said Ron should have went to Hollywood to play any and all basketball player roles in movies. He would have won awards. Too damn true.

Hahah loved that too. Hicks said you see Ron in the airport you think you wouldnt want to play that guy lol. I remember the preseason event they had, wasn't midnight madness but something similar, when Ron did the singing solo hahaha.
Could always count on a banked three from him tho!

Glad you guys enjoyed. Eric was awesome...

Thanks for making it available. It was a really entertaining listen. Good to hear Hicks is staying local to train kids/athletes of all ages.

It's really amazing to think of the coaches UC had during and around Hicks time. Huggins, AK and Frank Martin. You can tell those players loved playing for those guys.

I can try. lol

Eric was easy because I see him around quite a bit. The more Kenyon is around, the better the chances...

Not sure why that message i had in deleted. But yeah i get that since eric is local im sure it was easier. What happened with kenyon going to AAC touney? didnt see him there

Haven't heard why he couldn't make it yet. Have to imagine he's being pulled in a million different direction now that his playing career is over...
