wvu to the SEC ain't going to happen. I would be shocked if it does, regardless, the big east is on it's way to break up, just like everyone predicted.

I have always felt the unbalanced nature of the BEast could be a problem. UC/WVU/UL will all find homes. A good season in football and basketball this season with solid attendance wouldn't hurt. Could see some new alignment of a far more powerful CUSA type league.

UC, WVU, and Louisville to the SEC is not a reach should the SEC go to 16 teams as the teams the SEC was targeting Clemson, Miami, Florida State may not want to join. If Clemson, Miami, and Florida State join the SEC then there are 3 spots available in the ACC for UC, WVU, Louisville.

If the SEC does not go to 16 then Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, and Baylor join the Big East.

The way things are going now it should be every school for themselves. But I see Louisville looking out for us as a partner to whatever conference will take both. Most likely that will be with the Big 12 leftovers.

Any way you slice it UC basketball will be taking a step down in terms of basketball. Maybe football as well. This is not good.

Well it looks like WVU to the SEC will be the next pawn to fall in place. Rutgers and UCONN will probably be next to the ACC.

Cincinnati, Louisville and South Florida better stick together.

So what are UC's options?

ACC - if reports are true that UCONN is trying to go with Pitt and Syracuse then that leaves one spot. Does UC try to shoehorn their way in? Would the ACC want UC over Rutgers? From an on field/court standpoint UC is head and shoulders above Rutgers but Rutgers has the New York City market (I debate that a little bit but...).

SEC - they could stay at 12 but I have a feeling they would want to move to 16. So, where does UC fit? Honestly, not high on the list but maybe high enough. If Texas Tech instead goes to the Pac 12 with Oklahoma, Texas, and Oklahoma State, does the SEC go after Baylor? Something tells me no. TCU? Not sure they want to go that route either. So what next? Miami and Florida State are logical but I think Florida will put up a stink about any Florida teams. So let's rule them out along with South Florida, for now. Who next? Virginia Tech makes sense but do they want to leave the all new ACC? Clemson makes sense but they face the same question. If they don't leave, that leaves the SEC looking for 4 more schools still. Missouri is a possibility. Memphis is a possibility. Louisville is a possibility. UC is a possibility. WVU is a possibility. I think those are your most likely candidates. WVU
is a shoe in IMO. Missouri is too. I don't think Tennessee wants Memphis and I don't think UK wants Louisville. I think Tennessee wins and UK loses and UL would be in. That leaves one spot. UC is in a
good position because they are the only option in Ohio, which is a great football recruiting area. UC is a top 25 basketball program and would help bolster the SEC in basketball. Cincinnati is a larger media market than any other reasonable option which is good for TV contracts. Is it a slam dunk? No. It is reasonable though.

Big Ten - the Big Ten may be forced to look at UC as an option. This is OSU's worst nightmare and they will do their best to keep UC out. The Big Ten is not happy with all of OSU's issues lately and could stick it to the Buckeyes. UC does not bring a new market to the table which is the big downside for UC. Other schools they might consider are Missouri, Kansas, WVU, Kansas State, Iowa State, Rutgers, Louisville.

Something Brand New - The only other realistic option is UC joining up with the remaining 4 Big East schools plus the remaining 6 Big 12 schools plus TCU plus Memphis to get to 12. They could try to poach Boise State and Central Florida to get to 14. Not very likely IMO but still a possibility.

Nice commentary. I do believe a formation of the leftovers is possible. The Big East is rumored to be looking into the possibility of adding Boise State and Hawaii. If they can add Kansas and Kansas St. as well who knows? I believe the ACC may look into adding Kansas or possibly the SEC. Personally, I'd like to see Louisville and UC join the remaining Big 12 schools in a conference of football and basketball schools. If the BEast adds teams from all those time zones I think it really hurts a school with a budget like UC's.

Hawaii does nothing but hurt UC to be honest. Financially it will destroy UC. Can the volleyball team really afford to do this? Or women's basketball? Or either soccer team? Not sure how much the administration wants to deal with the "brawl" a few years ago with football.

Boise State helps in football and nothing else.

Feel the same way. It's why I think the Big 12 is the best option.

So what can the Big 12 look like?

WVU
UC
UL
TCU
USF
Misouri
Kansas
Kansas St.
Iowa State
Baylor

Plus (2 to 5 more of these):
Boise State
Memphis
Central Florida
BYU
Houston

Divisions assuming 1 more entry could be:
WVU, UC, UL, USF, Missouri, Iowa State

TCU, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas St, PLUS 2

This would be a solid conference. I just don't know that this can happen. I think WVU is on the way out and I feel like the Big Ten is going to try to poach soon.

Edit: Forgot Texas Tech would be part of group going to Pac 12

@Chris_Gates
Chris Gates I was told to expect something official on #WVU to the SEC by Tuesday/Wednesday. Looks like we're on schedule.
