I think he means as a mid range jumper during game action, which TR still struggles with. He isn't a bad ft shooter, he is just a shooter who can't shoot quickly and efficiently. Give him time to set up and bend his knees (ie free throws) and he is pretty solid.

I'm not sure how I could have misinterpreted that. There was a direct comment about FT shooting. "I wish he or JJ could hit from the FT line".

I'm sorry I get it now...hitting mid range jumpers from FT range....not necessarily free throws. My bad...please disregard

No problem, easy mistake. Your statement still holds true, 7/7 at the line is pretty impressive. If you would've told me to guess who went 7/7 from the line, Rubles probably wouldn't usually be my first guess. That could be interesting-waterhead, you like stats, maybe we could guess stats after games. You could pick some random stats and have the rest of us guess who had them, would be sort of fun. Just an idea, if you don't like it, no harm no foul...

It can't help Rubles confidence that the crowd collectively groans whenever he takes a jumper.

I get your point, but wouldn't that mean that he would shoot well on the road since he isn't hearing groans? He is not a good shooter anywhere he plays, it isn't his game. He is at his best when he is attacking (nice dunk yesterday) dishing assists (that pass during the Rutgers game was incredible), and grabbing rebounds (led the team last year).

Maybe you like it when they cheer when his D is some of the best in the country???

Definitely, just look at his value-added stats that I found a while back. .86 on offense (about average) and a whopping -2.01 on defense (second only to JJ).

I only bring it up because Mick mentioned it last night...

Mick is funny to listen to, he has some interesting ideas and then sometimes he makes me scratch my head. I liked a few years ago when he talked about how there was a study done in the NBA on 3 point-shooting and that they found that players have a much higher shooting percentage if they pass it into the post and then spot up and receive the kick out. Makes sense, but it was still interesting nonetheless. I think all you need to do is look at JJ and his great cross-court passes in the Houston game to prove that theory right. Mick has said it multiple times and I agree, JJ is an excellent passer. Most underrated part of his game, IMO. He still has the occasional dumb turnover, but he can make some great passes.

Okay, lets start a thread and each game, pick 5 stats and ask others to guess who had them.

I will take you up on that but let's start here...not for this game but for the year.

FT%...without looking...there are 6 bearcats over 73% who are they?

Two of them should be a BIG surprise compared to last year.

Who has the highest FT% on the team (and surprise #1)? Should be a HUGE surprise even with limited attempts.

Who has a better FT% TC or TR?

Who is #3 on the team in % compared to SK? Not who you might think.

If you have to look up the answers it's no fun:)

1) Caupain, Rubles, SK, Sanders, Shaq, KJ

2) Dave?

3) Rubles

4) Johnson?

Tough questions, I like it.

Isn't SK #2?

Alright I'll try:
1. Kilpatrick, Thomas, Rubles, Johnson, Caupain, and I think Big Dave is like 4/5 or something.

2. I guess Big Dave

3. They've gotta be close, I'll say Rubles since Troy has missed 6 or 7 FT's the past two games.

4. Is it Dave? Not sure since I think Dave is #1 and SK is #2
