I know it was garbage time, but once again Morman gets in the game and immediately makes his presence felt. I'd love to start getting him 10 minutes per game again.

I guess so. I would have benched Morman immediately. As soon as he came in the ball came up the court and the very first pass in the half court went to him. With a man right on him he launches a 3 and barely hits the rim. No dribble, no pass, just launch a terrible shot early in the shot clock. To me it showed why he doesn't deserve playing time.

Garbage time. I wonder why Moore didn't get to play those last 4 minutes as well.

Garbage time or no garbage time, it shows he doesn't understand his role.

My guess is that Mormon is trying a little too hard with the limited playing time he has. He is dying to prove himself and that manifests in some poor decisions. He's also the one kid I see that consistently plays hard and aggressively. I'll take the aggressive mistakes of Mormon over the passive mistakes of a couple others any day of the week. Not that an ill-advised 3 is an aggressive mistake but it isn't like KJ hasn't jacked up a bad shot or 20 this year.

KJ definitely has a role and I'm not knocking him, but when that kid is logging 36 minutes a game making the kind of mistakes he made last night...I have to put that on the coaches. KJ should get about 20-25 minutes a night and Mormon should be getting 10 or so. No question about it.

I agree with this and it's the same Morman you get every time he's in and I'm certain it's why he never sees the court anymore. The potential is there, but he has to play team basketball.

+/- for guys over 20 minutes last night

Clark -4
Shaq -5
Cobb -6
Ellis -10
Sanders -13
KJ -19
Caupain -19

I have seen enough basketball this year to definately say I want Caupain at the 2 guard position next year full time. My hope is Jenifer can be the lead guy.
He needs some invites to major camps this year. Even getting on JR. Olympic team is huge.

You don't have to be fast to be a great offensive player. As a matter of fact playing at your pace is usually to your advantage offensively. Remember Steve Logan? Not quick or fast, he just made the defense play at his pace and speed because he was so damn skilled. Speed is extremely overrated.

Speed definitely isn't overrated. And using one example from 14 years ago doesn't prove a point. I guess I could point to Spud Webb as a reason why being 5'6 isn't a disadvantage. That said, Clark's issue isn't foot speed, but he is too slow to react, mainly because he doesn't have great post skills yet. Same with Ellis.

Too slow. I guess that's why he has more steals and breakaway dunks than any big man in recent U.C. history.

I want what your smoking man

Gary Clark is anything but slow, he's had more breakaway dunks than anyone on our team this year
Gambling!!! in post his reaction time is slowest ever in recent memory for uc starter.

This. He's plenty quick when he makes up his mind.

1. He's a freshman
2. He gained 20+ pounds in 6 months just so we could have a PF this year. He'll be the same weight next year with an off season to get stronger. He'll be fine.

I'll take Clarks reaction time in the post over Shaq's reaction time in knowing that the fast break just isn't there. HAHA

Lol. As wrong as Shaq was for not pulling it out, I still hate the charge call they called on him last night. Caupain has had a couple iffy ones lately too. I used to be a ref (not for college games or anything), and I NEVER called charges within 5 feet of the hoop. Can't stand it.
