I'll handle this one Jacob...just use the ignore feature. Responding to him won't help.

Look guys, college basketball is full of subjectivity and objectivity. Its very easy to throw out stats and data and say we are good or bad. How do you feel honestly watching these games about our chances for a deep tourney run? Objectively, the data supports a deep run. Subjectively, and after watching every game, I am still hampered by the lack of offensive consistency. Its very simple. You may not like the EYETEST, but there is some merit in looking beyond data.

If we beat Xavier, who may end up being the best team we beat all year long, I may change my tune. But i cant get over the fact that we are winning against far INFERIOR opponents.

i think you may be neglecting the fact that this is college basketball, a game in which even the best teams routinely look like shit. every team would regularly fail your eye test (which is two separate words, by the way).

I mean I understand. It's better to judge a team by actually watching the games then just looking at stats. I guess I think that in a course of a season there's going to be games you don't bring it or look as good, but overall I think this team is very good, and yes I strongly believe with the right seed and matchups we can make it to the sweet 16 or better. In fact it will be a very depressing year if it doesn't happen that way.. Also, enjoying being 16-2. I hate to look past this regular season. We have beaten a good road non conference team in ISU. and have beaten teams on the road in conference this year that we lost to last year. Beat X!

You watched the and right? He made a few non set shots off the dribble.

yes I watched. And everything i said still stands true. KJ struggles when he tries to create for himself. Will he make a shot where he uses a pump fake to create space? yes. But a few shots isnt going to change the fact that he really struggles when he puts the ball on the floor. KJ is a really good shooter when he has space, and he is set and square. When he tries to do to much, thats when he struggles and thats when things get into his head. Do what you are good at. That builds confidence. You see the ball go in the basket, you start feeling it. You turn the ball over and/or take a bad shot thats when you start questioning yourself.

I was so pumped about Johnson last night. He had a great 2nd half.

I was also glad that they called a block when Cumberland went to the hoop. I'm glad he keeps going hard. The calls will even out for him.

Oh to the people who non stop ripped KJ, hope it felt good, and hope it feels real real bad now.

Why would any UC fan be upset that a UC player is playing well? I've never understood the logic that just because you're hard on a player means you get mad when they do well. Who doesn't like seeing UC players succeed?

I loved seeing the inside out working. What a difference it makes!

Loved watching Kyle get all jacked up on the and 1 and seeing him back to himself. He's a nightmare to stop in the paint. Emotional leader of the team.

Loved watching Caupain look like an all conference guard again. Back to back buckets in the lane, the alley oop to Brooks, cross court to KJ, the post up move, making 8-9 FT's, 7 assists, 9 boards.

Loved seeing Clark get 8 assists. Selfless basketball

Loved to see KJ keeping his hot form from 3. Glad he's getting some run finally from the fans.

Loved seeing Evans get back on track. We need him to be just his average self

Yeah I'm sorry but this is D1 basketball. It's not like everyone was wrong about Johnson for 3 years...he didn't produce. He certainly is now. I think it's freaking great.

75% shooting in the second half? That's ridiculous! That's about as much fun as I have had watching us play in a while in the second half. 6 point deficit to a 13 point lead at one point. Great execution!

YES! Dude needs new glasses that points him to the NBA.

Just last night, a very good West Virginia team (#4 in KenPom and a real contender for the title) lost at home to a terrible Oklahoma team. This sort of thing happens all the time.

As far as "eye tests" go, the thing that should impress people about this team is that they have proven they can win in multiple ways - smothering defense, up-tempo offense, inside scoring, outside shooting. Cronin's teams will always be defense-first, but unlike past squads this one can find another way on nights where they come up against a hot shooting team, and adjust their offense to attack the opponent's soft spot.

Last night's game was the type they would typically lose in the past - someone starts knocking down 3's and the 'Cats just can't keep up. They have now survived two of those this year (Marshall) plus the 2nd half of the SMU game, because they were able to execute on offense.

Agreed

When the starters play that good, it's hard to give the bench minutes.. Feel bad for Scott and Jennifer, but some games will go like that. the whole team is on the same page and understands that. They all just want to win. Jennifer and Scott have their best years in front of them, and of course they have and will continue to have a positive impact in this season.

Temple was shooting lights out, a good thing we were. What a game. I knew spread was too high. It should have been around 9ish.

It's crazy how after the Marshall game we said we need to be 17-2 going into Crosstown. One person said they go into every game expecting to win but realistically it's hard to think we won't drop one playing on the road to Temple and Houston and home against SMU. I agreed and I think everyone else did, well gentlemen, I'd say we are going to be 17-2 with full confidence we won't have a slipup game against Tulane. I cant wait until Thursday. Only a week away.

I was thinking I would have been content with 16-3 heading into Xavier after the Marshall game. At this point 17-2 is the only thing I would be content with given we have Tulane next...lol! If we beat Tulane...I will be more than happy! Beat X and I will be ecstatic with 18-2 record...given that I think we can win the next 4 after that before heading to Moody. 22-2 heading into SMU would be incredible! This team just might have it in them.

The beauty of this team is that they can win in multiple ways. Need to outscore someone? They can do it. Lock them down defensively? They can do it. Top scorer or two having an off night? Other guys can drop double figures. We haven't seen this out of a Cronin coached team yet. The sky is the limit for this team. Just avoid injuries and everything should be good.

Yes the coach is armed with a lot of "adjustment making" potential in game. I just hope we get to a point where we look good closing out really close games. We still aren't there yet. Perhaps we haven't needed it quite as much this year...but we will at some point...especially March.

As long as we keep the ball out of KJ's hands on short clocks at the end of games and just let him spot up...we should be okay. I would be okay with him taking set jumpers but not so much dribbling and creating or even holding the ball till he has to shoot.

Interesting that Cumberland was the primary sub off the bench for many situations. Evans played all but 3 minutes and KJ all but 11 leaving 14 minutes for Cumberland to snag at the 2 and 3 spots. He got 23 minutes though. I think coach may like his passing ability into the low post...along with his ability to knock down a 3.
