Interesting that Cumberland was the primary sub off the bench for many situations. Evans played all but 3 minutes and KJ all but 11 leaving 14 minutes for Cumberland to snag at the 2 and 3 spots. He got 23 minutes though. I think coach may like his passing ability into the low post...along with his ability to knock down a 3.

I don't know exactly how it played out but Jenifer got 4 minutes and Troy got 36 for a total of 40. Clark got 35 and Scott 5. Washington got 22 and Brooks 9 leaving 9 open minutes from the 5 spot. That would explain Cumberland's additional 9 minutes over and above what was available at the 2 and 3 spots.

It may not have played out exactly that way...but it's interesting to look at

How cool was it to see Fickell in the stands last night? I think he went up in the student section but I only caught a little bit of it.

He wasn't officially introduced was he? If not, they should during the X game. Especially with them hosting a junior day event.

This is not related to this thread but I was reading about the notre dame loss last night and how they made 15 3's and lost.

When a team makes 15 or more 3's, they win 82% of the Time in 789 games. Pretty cool that we were in that 18% who won against Marshall

Football coach? Xavier will be very confused. :D

That reminds me of a story:

A few years ago a good friend of mine was sitting in a sports bar in Norwood wearing a UC football jersey. Some X board of director-type guys came in for a drink, see the jersey, and start privately (but not quietly) putting down UC and the quality of its education. At the time my buddy was probably 35, and sitting there on a Saturday afternoon he looked like your average easy target for some suits. The X dudes figured to have some fun, so one of them got my friend's attention and loudly asked what he did for a living.

He turns to them as says "I'm a patent attorney".

After a moment or two of surprise (and probably disbelief), one asks, "and how do you become a patent attorney?"

He says, "Well, first you have to get an engineering degree, which you can't get at Xavier. And then you need a law degree, which you also can't get at Xavier."

That is fantastic

Just last night, a very good West Virginia team (#4 in KenPom and a real contender for the title) lost at home to a terrible Oklahoma team. This sort of thing happens all the time.

As far as "eye tests" go, the thing that should impress people about this team is that they have proven they can win in multiple ways - smothering defense, up-tempo offense, inside scoring, outside shooting. Cronin's teams will always be defense-first, but unlike past squads this one can find another way on nights where they come up against a hot shooting team, and adjust their offense to attack the opponent's soft spot.

Last night's game was the type they would typically lose in the past - someone starts knocking down 3's and the 'Cats just can't keep up. They have now survived two of those this year (Marshall) plus the 2nd half of the SMU game, because they were able to execute on offense.

Yes, every team has bad games. Funny how some people forget that. That's why they play a whole season lol

LOL! Nice. And here is my beautiful wife...which you also cannot get at Xavier

Agreed! X for the most part is a bunch of spoiled rich kids. UC for the most part is a bunch of working class kids. Most students at UC pay for their own education. I'm Catholic and it's embarrassing the behavior of most students at the Cintas Center (most probably not Catholic). They are just like the chumps in the restaurant.
