South Florida hasn't beat any quality teams, they have beat everyone they were supposed to beat. Cincy has beat Goergetown at g-town, Notre Dame, Louisville, Uconn at uconn (cuse just won by 2 at cuse). Cincy is in because they have proven they can beat tournament teams, south florid needs to have 12 or 13 wins if they want to make the tournament because they have yet to prove they can beat a tournament team. The committee likes teams that are playing well, as of late cincy has been playing well and south florida has been playing well winning the last 5 out of 6 games. It's really to early to tell whos in and who's not, both teams have 3 big games left so hopefully we finish stronger than they do, because they are just another team we have to worry about.

I will say this again. There is no way a team that wins 11 games in this league gets left out of the NCAA. I just have a hard time believing that will happen. That said take care of business over the next week and it doesn't matter. Beat USF, Marquette and Nova and land that double bye.

It is going to be interesting to me to see if Lunardi and Palm agree with Jeff and both now have South Florida in the NCAA because of their 11 Big East wins, not that Lunardi and Palm's opinions mean anything, because they do not, as neither are on the Selection Committee. They are for entertainment purposes only.

I have as a hobby studied the RPI vs at large bids for many years and have the opinion that RPI matters a lot. A lot more than conference record. South Florida's RPI of 46 to go along with their 11 Big East wins to me makes them an at large team. UC's RPI of 75 after yesterday's loss is NIT to me. If the Cats do not have their RPI in the 50's on Selection Sunday, in my opinion for whatever it is worth, it will be an NIT year.

Beat Marquette Wed. and UC is in without a doubt Ralph. That said if they go to the NIT they have nobody to blame but themselves for not showing up against Presbytarian, St. Johns, Rutgers, and USF. They are woefully inconsistent and unmotivated. I truly believe Gate's attitude has an adverse effect on this team.

I have come to a realization

Mick's teams are always going to play good defense. Despite what he says, they are still solid each game defensively. And I do believe it is his game plan to criticize his teams defensive performance no matter what, it keeps the guys focused.

Offensively, they are going to be inconsistent as they live and die by the jump shot. I'm done knocking Mick, this is just a statement; he will do little offensively to get his players in position to make high percentage shots. Its just the way it is. He is going to rely on spacing and his athletes on the floor to make plays. It explains the inconsistency

With that said, they are capable of hitting a hot streak as we have scene even back to the days when we just had Vaughn.

Lets hope they can hit another here soon and carry them deep into the NCAA

I agree Jeff about Gates! Thats why I think they will be really good after he leaves!

I wonder how good they'll be when 6 foot 3 JaQuan Parker is their best rebound. Gates has been a huge key to this season success. You'll miss him next year, thats for sure.

First of all JP won't be the best rebounder. Secondly, I didn't say he had no value on the floor, I said his attitude has an adverse effect on the team. I've watched very closely how he talks to his team during the game. I've watched how he responds after he makes a bad play and they try to encourage him. My statement isn't to deride Yancy or devalue him on the floor. It simply speaks to his leadership skills and how other players respond to him.

Think back to his suspension. Cash, Parker, Dixon and Jackson would wrap their arm around players and encourage and coach them. Yancy snaps at them and I don't think this group responds well to that. It's a matter of style.

Justin Jackson played out of his mind after Yancy got into his face during the second half of the UL game. Gates will go down as one of the most under appreciated Bearcats of all time.

I'm thinking the Cronin told Jackson to get every rebound! I get mad at Gates because you see glimpses of NBA type talent! Like the post move he put on Chane and then you see him put up soft shots! Yes he is vital to the team! He brings it against certain like Freeze but not other guys! I'm thinking Mick will bring a guy next year who will bang all game! We will see!
