Help Support BearcatTalk:

I know it sounds neat to have all these crazy fans but frankly I'm okay with not being as nuts as some of the other fan bases. UK, UT, OSU, those fans plan their lives around games, whether its weddings, kids birthdays, etc. Personally I think that's sad. I love UC and consider myself a huge fan but I will not ever plan my personal life around their events.

...and that is why UC will remain out of the Power 5 conference. Not enough fans and not enough support for the program.

Yep. That is how major college athletics works. Grow up. If that is strange to you, then I NEVER want to hear you complain about the American Athletic Conference.

I don't complain, the conference situation is what it is. I'm grown enough to know that, but I forgot your knowledge trumps everyone else. This whole thread is dumb and does nothing to SUPPORT the program, so look in the mirror and check your own grown up situation.

UC has plenty of both to be in a power 5 conference.

If they did they would be. Simple as that. Programs that generate a large fan base and generate large money will boost the revenue for TV networks and for their conference. UC's fan base for the most part is within the 275 loop north of the river and east of the Indiana border. Yes it pushes out to the northern suburbs like Mason and West Chester but doesn't go too far beyond that. Football is where the money is and I'd venture to guess if you ran a poll in those limited parameters described above that not only do the Bengals trump support over us but OSU football does too. Go outside of that and UC is almost an afterthought. UC basketball has more support from the casual fan as far as general interest goes but they arent getting the financial support from those fans that football does from its fans.

Now with all that said, UC is in good shape with its donor support should conferences want to expand compared to other non-power schools, but where we are now is not enough to make any conference enough money or support that it's a no-brainer to add us.

Nope.

nothing is near Boise state they probably have followers from not only there entire state but some of the surrounding states as well, Cincinnati has another elite program (Xavier) in their own city for Christ sake never mind all of the other schools that are in our area, Kentucky and osu to name a few, so people that live in Idaho have no choice but to be Boise state fans unlike people who live in Cincinnati who can choose from more than a handful of teams to root for.

Bottom line is we have a top notch football stadium that will average 40000 a game this year with a team that will be in the top 25 and a QB that is a stud. Our basketball games will average easily over 10000 fans a game as they follow a top 15/10 team this year, which will be getting a state of the art area built next year. Our facilities weight room/varsity village/nippert/the redone 5/3 are top notch. And I dont know about you guys but I definitly plan things around the cats games....there no place else I'm going to be besides nippert in a few Saturday's same thing when hoops roles around. If realignment roles around and happens again I can garentee uc will be in it

I will NEVER post on this board ever again if UC averages 40,000 a game this season. Absolutely NO CHANCE of that EVER happening.

If basketball doesn't average at least 10,000 a game I will be very disappointed. I would love to see a 12,000 average for conference games and 10,500 overall.

Ok I agree with the hoops.

But football it's not even a debate that the first two games Alabama a&m and temple will sell out due to the new stadium appeal. Next home game is Miami on a Thursday night on espn, guaranteed sell out. Next is UConn also know as homecoming game always a huge showing for homecoming at cinci, sell out. Next is central Florida good team and big program and big game that's a sell out. Last home game is Tulsa if we are having at least a solid year that's selling out. There is a lot of buzz about this years offense and fans can't sto talking about the new nippert I have non uc fans trying to get tickets these games. Watch your words attendance will be on average very close to 40k

Might want to check out gobearcats.com...go to buy tickets for the opener. There's still a looooot of seats left, and the game is in 16 days. I'm guessing 35k max, sadly. Months ago I figured it would sell out. Doesn't appear to be the case.

40,000 is the max as I understand it so to average that we would have to sell out entire schedule. I don't see that happening this year. I think they'll get close to a sellout for the opener but with as many seats still available at this point it will be tough to sell out. I think UC will do enough promotions and deals and giveaways to get that opener as close to a sellout as they can. Maybe they do end up selling out, but I don't think we'll sell out the season. Season ticket sales have dropped and I don't see each game individually being marketed well enough to get sellouts. I'd venture to guess we average around 35,000 this year assuming we win and don't stumble into a couple early losses. In future years I could see us selling out an entire season as long as we win at a high level and are ranked and have the buzz around the program that we could get into a premier bowl.
