The time when Calipari OWNED Mick

40,000 is the max as I understand it so to average that we would have to sell out entire schedule. I don't see that happening this year. I think they'll get close to a sellout for the opener but with as many seats still available at this point it will be tough to sell out. I think UC will do enough promotions and deals and giveaways to get that opener as close to a sellout as they can. Maybe they do end up selling out, but I don't think we'll sell out the season. Season ticket sales have dropped and I don't see each game individually being marketed well enough to get sellouts. I'd venture to guess we average around 35,000 this year assuming we win and don't stumble into a couple early losses. In future years I could see us selling out an entire season as long as we win at a high level and are ranked and have the buzz around the program that we could get into a premier bowl.

We have actually sold the most season tickets since before the 2010 season, so I'm not sure where you get that from. But it will be very close to the deadline to sell the game out.

That's good to hear, the buzz was that season ticket sales were down. I am happy to have heard wrong. So what are the season ticket sales? Is part of the reason it's up due to the fact they sell season tickets to students now? I know from talking to my old ticket guy that 20-21,000 was the max they could sell several years ago with student tickets not counting into the mix. Do they now count student tickets as part of the total?

I'm going to assume some of it has to do with the renovated stadium.

Well, there are 5,000 more seats to sell. But if you aren't selling at capacity to start with then it's not just automatic that more seats to sell means more seats will sell. I'm sure there are fans who are curious to see the new stadium and maybe that did garner more season ticket sales, but as far as I knew about three years ago we sold almost every season ticket available, leaving tickets for students and visitor allotments, etc. But being curious to see the new stadium doesn't mean you have to buy season tickets. I'm happy to hear that season ticket sales are up. I know the suites all presold as did alot of the premium seating. I wonder how much of that was new accounts and how much of it was people upgrading. Obviously with no suites or boxes before there might have been big time companies that didn't buy in that now have that option.

Yeah the updated number includes student season tickets this year. As did years past. We bumped up the total number of student seasons tickets this year to 4,000. So for 6,000 total season tickets allowed, we are selling 4,000 of them on the season basis and we are down to the last 30 or so being available. But the overall bump is in large part due to being back on campus. Its weird, but its more about being on campus than the renovations it seems. Sure the updates and everything are nice, but every fan I've talked to are just plain excited to be back at Nippert this year and for years to come. Plus this team is suppose to be pretty good, which always helps. I would expect a bump after we start 3-0 going into Memphis(my hope at least).

Good to know. How many years have students been sold season tickets and how many have years have they counted in the total? I assume the number would be the same. I can't imagine it's been more than three years.

I liked tickets being free when I was a student, but with college athletics being what it is it makes sense to sell them if you can. Personally I'm just happy to be back on campus, too. PBS was dreadful last year. I am looking forward to seeing all the new amenities.

I agree with you, especially the last sentence. I hope the concourse is breathable and I won't be afraid of missing a quarter to go to the restroom. I hope they stepped up their food game. It makes me nervous because Aramark is coming back and they are horrible.

Ok I agree with the hoops.

But football it's not even a debate that the first two games Alabama a&m and temple will sell out due to the new stadium appeal. Next home game is Miami on a Thursday night on espn, guaranteed sell out. Next is UConn also know as homecoming game always a huge showing for homecoming at cinci, sell out. Next is central Florida good team and big program and big game that's a sell out. Last home game is Tulsa if we are having at least a solid year that's selling out. There is a lot of buzz about this years offense and fans can't sto talking about the new nippert I have non uc fans trying to get tickets these games. Watch your words attendance will be on average very close to 40k

Only games people are going to are Miami-FL and UCF. Not to mention they are basically giving away tickets with the incredibly low prices. Really no point of even buying season tickets if you want to get the best deals..

Even More reasons to buy season tickets and support the program and university. Season tickets are ridiculously cheap.

They've sold student season tickets for 6+ years now. They have just never really been that popular since the free ones were so easy to get, but this season it will be extremely difficult to get free ones. But we also gave away a sweet Under Armor shirt with the season package as well.

Fascinating. I guess I'm getting old...
