The Wes Miller Era

Yeah, if he is actually an elite defender and can return to 2019-20 offensive form, I'll be excited. The 42 true shooting percentage and high turnover rate is what I saw at first glance. Hopefully he can move past that.

which was so weird since he had a 53.7 TS in 2020 and 14.6 turnover rate. I'm just going to choose to ignore last year.

23 vs #5 louisville
18 vs #6 FSU
14 vs #3 Duke

he battled a knee injury last year that he suffered in the last game on 2020. had to delay offseason surgery because of Covid.

Hopefully he can be 100% next year.

He would be a great complement to one of the scoring juco wings we're targeting. And he's another lefty along with MAW. I'm still dreaming about Langston Wilson, which would give us 3 lefties.

We can win quickly with athletic wings in this league. Newman former top 100 recruit. Miller going to continue get his players from CP3 AAU, one of top if not best aau organization in nation. I’m pretty sure Miller family has some inside connections to team

Solid get. We have up to 8 spots to fill so this guy can definitely have one of them.

Yep. Can the guy play 10 minutes and not get completely over-matched? If yes, then sign him up. We need a couple more of these guys to fill out a roster. Preferably 6’7 and above.

We also need good players but those are harder to find.

I would agree, I don't think he comes in and dominates by any means, but if he can get back to his sophomore year self I think he can be a nice piece to this team and as someone already said, he is a body and we need a lot of those right now. He only has two years of eligibility left which is nice to if he doesn't work out. Has anyone head anything about DDJ? He was pretty committed to JB and we are looking at a lot guards in the portal right now, so that was just something that caught my eye.

Who knows about DDJ. It sucks for him, he left a really big school to come here, and the coach isn’t here anymore. I feel for the guy. I haven’t heard anything though. Still weird how he left last year and came back.

Based on what I saw in his video I would put him at the 3 and move Davenport to the 4. This kid is going to play more than 10 minutes for us unless Wes pulls in another 2 wings that are better than him. I know he's at least looking for one more but not sure if he takes 2.

We need to focus on getting 3 bigs. Starting 5, backup 5, solid PF. Assuming Lakhin stays that should be enough.

Agreed, I'm guessing he will be the starting 3 (20+ minutes). Looks like a 3 and JD stays at the 4. Fills out one spot with a very good player if he gets back to Sophomore year form. Now we need a backup 3, backup 4, starting 5 and backup 5 (plus possibly another PG if DDJ transfers).

I would imagine if DD does not commit soon to Wes with 2 feet in...Wes will add another PG and it might help DD make his decision easier.

He looks like a crazy athlete. Not sure he can do anything else but I’ll take him. The videos I’ve seen just show him dunking so I don’t know what he can do beside that.

There are some full games for Clemson on youtube if you want to get in real deep.

He definitely gives Keith Williams flashbacks, sometimes in bad ways. Loose ball handling and getting called for a charge because he's out of control on a drive.

Elite athlete. On offense he's seems to be a straight line drive guy who can finish around the rim and good passer. Not a primary threat, but a guy who can go off if you lose him.

On defense, can guard the 1-4 and guard them all well (though can struggle with bigger 4's). Gets steal, blocks and rebounds. Closes out well on the three.

His biggest weakness is his three point shooting. If he could get that to 35% he'd be much better. Shot selection seems good, doesn't take many mid-range jumpers.

His shooting form looks good and FT% (92.3% last year, though on only 13 attempts, 72.6% in 19-20 on 84 attempts) hint that maybe there's a reasonable chance of his 3 point percentage improving.

He was hurt last year, but he also has disciplinary action taken against him by the coaching staff. They sat him a game and then he never really played more than 10 minutes in a game after that.

Hope he's not a hot head...but I am guessing Wes will be comfortable with keeping him in check and knows the situation pretty well whatever it is/was.

I was talking about Langston

Oh oops, wasn't paying attention to the quote you quoted.

Langston I don't know much about. I don't pay much attention to guys until they actually commit here, too many players to look at at that point.

Yeah, players who are available are meant to go in the Potential Incoming Players thread, so this thread can stay focused on our actual team and general needs. I'm the one brought up Langston here, but I moved the ensuing discussion.

I think the playing of Vogt was the inexplicable playing time that got players aroused. He was terrible through and through.

He was not terrible “through and through.” Dude should not have ever been playing as much as he did though, at his size 20-25 min should have been max. All his production decreased because of his overuse.
