The Wes Miller Era

We can finally put the Brannen players behind us, we got 2 out of 3.... Now time to move forward, we have 7 scholys to fill, Wes has reached out to Vince Cole from St. Johns, that would be a nice start.

Go all out on Tre Mitchell and Emanuel Miller. They can both play 40 mpg here. I hope Abdulsalam is at least thinking about following Wes.

Tre Mitchell would be a huge get. He could challenge for POY in the conference. IF not, maybe look at some guys who haven't played a lot but have upside, like Tyreek Smith out of Texas Tech?

Yeah, I'd take Tyreek Smith for sure.

Langston Wilson just tweeted "Soon". Our playing time situation has to look really appealing to him.

The good news is, it won’t take much to improve our front court over the last couple years. I like Vogt, but aside from the first half of last year, he’s been awful. Dou barely played. Tari has a ton of upside but was a freshmen, if we can get 2 guys in here that are decent we will be in better shape than we have been.

I think the playing of Vogt was the inexplicable playing time that got players aroused. He was terrible through and through.

He was homesick...... joking aside, wish him the best... Lets move on
Could not overstate how bad it is loose Eason. Imagine if Hicks, Maxiel or Clark had never played for UC. That is the scale of what we lost. Note I did not say Martin of course. Some period of mourning is in order. We do not have to just move on now.

Hey, at least we got the little brother madsen back. Only cost uc 5 mil.

You’re right let’s mourn over a guy who was going to most likely leave Cincinnati after one season anyway regardless of who the coach was... shoot Wes an email to hold off on replacing him for a few days so we can reflect on his one season here

Big loss. It is what it is. Next man in! Wes is knocking on all the doors out there. I kind of feel like we need to stop at 11 now so he can focus on The following year or some late developments. No more than 12

We can still do that if some of the transfers are seniors.

John Newman III is now a bearcat. I guess he was transferring to UNCG from Clemson and followed Miller here.

6'5 wing. Looks like a slasher. Played a lot as a sophomore but struggle as a JR and didn't play nearly as much.

We're bringing in John Newman from Clemson. 6'5" junior wing. He's a body I guess. Doesn't really do anything well.

Edit: I take this back. He had a down year due to injury.

We definitely need bodies, so this doesn't hurt. Hopefully he is playing 15 minutes a game off the bench, like he did for a solid Clemson team, rather than 31 mpg, like he did for a bad Clemson team.

Managed to have a 107.1 ORTG as a sophomore in conference play as a sophmore in the ACC. No idea what happened to him last season. Long athletic wing. Step down in competition should help. Looks like an ok passer and is likely a pretty good defender.

Newman has a 42.7 defensive rating on Evan Miya's site, which is elite (for reference Dejon Jarreau is 45.2)

he is quick and explosive. had good games vs unc, duke, and louisville in 2020.

write off last year as a weird covid year. i think if he transferred here after his sophomore year we'd have been pretty excited.

Yeah, if he is actually an elite defender and can return to 2019-20 offensive form, I'll be excited. The 42 true shooting percentage and high turnover rate is what I saw at first glance. Hopefully he can move past that.
