Remember when Mason was just the throw in for Gabe lol.... Man how times have changed and I’m hyped to have him back

Rumor floating around now that Mike Roberts is going to be the associate HC. Some claim players have been told, but nothing official yet. Assistant 2 Years at IU, 8 at UNCG, 4 at Rice and 2 at California. Former player at IU, is 6'9" so guessing he played PF or center. Position coach for 3 guys who have been drafted in the NBA (all big men).

Mason definitely played better than his ranking (400 something). I think he's a bit less long/athletic than Wes prefers. But he has the toughness, defensive intensity and shooting ability to make up for it. I doubt he starts next year (and maybe not even as a Junior), but he can definitely be a lightning rod off the bench who plays 25+ minutes on nights where he catches fire.

He’s more athletic than I ever thought. Pretty sure he just posted a 40”+ vertical.

He’s more athletic than Cumberland but they both have good instincts so even if not Uber athletic they have enough to get it done. BB players with good instinct can jump passing lanes and know where you are going before you do. Less reactionary and more proactive.

Not many guys have both instincts and athleticism

He could end up being better! He’s got a good head start. His confidence and attitude seem to fit well with what Wes talks about. Gym rats...winners...grit

Tari is super important because we need bigs and not a lot out there with his skill set. It would make coaches job a lot easier. But Mikey and Mason are right there as far as importance.

Without having the time or ability to scour the transfer market...you can’t get much easier recruits than guys already on the team. All show big promise already.

Fill out the staff. Get Tari. Grab a starting 5. Find a stud wing.

Gonna be a fun week or two. Going from 2 year rebuild to potential dark horse would be about the best possible scenario I could imagine

The re-commitments of Saunders and Madsen tell me that Miller must think very highly of them if he chose to put the full court press on both immediately after being hired.

I guess I'm a little concerned that we haven't heard from DeJulius yet.

It seems less likely now that we're going to add one of Miller's former UNCG guards. I wouldn't turn down one of their better frontcourt players. He may also choose to not bring any of those players over as it could possibly cause locker room friction (I'm not sure if any of this existed when Vogt came with Brannen).

I don’t know if it’s that he thinks highly of those guys, or he just needs players. If you need 9 players and you can get a couple to just stay after a meeting or two, you going to do that first, as opposed to trying to recruit someone that has no connection to you or the program and that would take a lot of effort. If we can keep tari, I think we could have a decent year next year. We obviously need more but it’s a great start.

As to your comment about DDJ. I find myself not really caring if he returns. I think he’s a good player, and would take him, but he’s not a game changer or anything IMO

Not sure any of the current roster, and I’ll include tari, is a game changer. Who will be the go to guy? Someone off the transfer market?

I agree, I guess the young guys at least have potential, which is exciting. DDJ is kinda who he is. Good player, I’d take him, but wouldn’t be mad if he didn’t return

He’s probably the only guy who can consistently create a play for himself or others. Low efficiency play maker but not sure who else fits the bill. I want him back!

4 small guards. I wouldn’t been mad if we subtracted at least one and added tall PG. We can still do it. No player we add should be under 6’6

We have plenty of spots to fill. We don’t need to lose any. No chance every player we get is better than the squad we have. I am just hoping for 2

Seems like we are a long shot to get Tari back.... LSU seems to be leading at the moment .... so no he wasn’t homesick either haha
