No, this is not a thread regarding our head coach. Instead, does anyone think it is time to completely cut Deonta out?

PG Cash - Cash, it's your team to run. We're going to live and die with you. I understand you'll make some mistakes, but I expect you to play with energy and always keep us organized on offense.

SG Lance - This is your team now. We need you to take 15 good shots a game. I don't want contested 3s, I don't want lazy fouls, I don't want bad passes. You must lead by example and be vocal. Prove to the NBA that you're a lottery pick.

SF Bishop - It's your time to be the voice of leadership. Keep us calm when in a tough spot. Give our guys confidence on the road. Play within your role and keep others in their role.

PF Gates - We need energy, toughness and attitude. We cannot win unless you go for 15 and 10 on a regular basis. People must fear you. Dominate the paint.

PF Thomas - You must do all the little things. Yancy has lapses, so you need to pick it up when his head is in the sand. You and Bishop must use your maturity to help keep the team calm. Hit open shots, get on the boards, contest everything on defense and lead by example. Energy is contagious.

I would sit those 5 players down and give them that talk before the Rutgers game. I would tell them that this conversation is private and should not be repeated. I would also talk to everyone on the team and identify a specific role for each player.

Finally, I'd tell DV that he is coming off the bench. His role will be to handle the ball and hit open shots. If he is not shooting when is open, he sits. His defense is a liability and I'd rather player Cash, Parker, Dixon or Davis over DV at this point.

It hurts to say it, but we will be a better team without DV.

God, that's a great starting 5 if they fill those roles. I would like to see it, for sure. But I don't know if this team would take an emotional hit when they look over and see their senior, a man they surely love, riding the pine.

No better time to find out though. What we're currently doing isn't working, and it's win or go home time.

Totally agree. MC needs to start playing for next year. Give the young guys more time on the court, and play the seniors less.

I see what your saying, but dont you think MC should respect what DV gave to the university in the "dark years"? I dont think you can just use him a little in the last few games of his career. Especially since its not an NCAA team

I'm not sure how much we 'owe' a player. How about the fans? The program is more important than owing someone. I think it's time to think about next year.

Even though Vaughn has not been playing up to expectations this year, I think it sends the wrong message to the fan base. By playing the young guys to get ready for next season tells me you are giving up on the team as a coach. He has stuck with Vaughn this long, why stop now?

Vaughn really has not played well all season and if his minutes were to diminish throughout the season it would be a different story, but to sit him all the sudden doesn't sit well with me.

DV scored two points last game. I think the message being sent is that he doesn't help the team as much as Cash's experience might.
The team is always bigger than the coach or player.

I would like to see a McNamara-esk performance from Vaughn in the BE Tourny and we make the NCAA!:D
