Torian Graham 2014 JUCO SG

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

Torian will be the starting 2 guard if he does end up in a bearcat uniform and a major recruiting pitch could be he would be a go to scoring option.

Idk if it's a correct judgement. But to me. He plays how I hoped shaq would play. And still
Hope shaq will play just a better shooter. Could be way off. Just what it looked like in both their recruiting videos

REALLLY want Torian to add to the mix of guards. Lets just say he goes really really HARD to the rim. Shows a few of him creating and some good looking 3's. Kid can do it all and is fearless. If anything I think thats been one of our biggest problems this year is people afraid to shoot or drive. It was almost like they played scared if they messed up felt like they would come out. Don't think we would have that with this kid.

Would really like to land Graham. Looks like he has some of that swagger bearcat basketball has been missing.

did you guys watch Kilpatrick and Jackson play this year? They are arguably the two most demonstrative players on the floor in recent UC history. Titus was similar as well. Agree that Graham looks to like he plays with an edge, but there was no lack of swagger on this team.

Also, I am not sure what coach you have watched the past 8 years, but no one is coming in and being handed a starting position. If Graham doesn't defend, Cronin won't start him, period. Look at our PG situation this year. Defenders start at UC. Graham won't be handed anything.

No lack of swagger on this team??? Common now. I agree Kilpatrick and Jackson were great, mainly Kilpatrick, while Jackson being very up and down giving you a great game then a couple terrible games. But aside from those 2 this team had no swagger the most aside from them was from Kevin Johnson who should have been playing WAYYYYY more minutes this year. I really like Troy but hes so timid. Hes great when he gets out and runs but for some reason towards the end of the year he stopped doing that. You have to beg him to shoot the ball and he is great slashing to the rim but hardly ever does it. Guyn same way he plays defense thats it. No creating shots for anyone no drives to the hoop never shoots the ball. Our offense is so passive. Watching all these games people shoot and make what Mick calls "Bad Shots" I think he has put in these kids we are looking for the perfect shot every time down the court instead of just playing ball. Yeah you want good shots but we passed up pretty good looks all year to hopefully get SK a 3 or open look when we have other capable scorers. Our best offense has been to push the ball and get layups. We rarely did that. To say this team had an abundance of swagger and confidence is crazy to me. Maybe they had it on defense but we had next to no swagger on offense aside from SK.

Troy was trying too hard to "fit in" with the guys this year. He will be the leader of the team for the next 3 years, IMO.

I agree that he was deferring to the upper classmen this year. Hope you are right about him taking a leadership role. That is what they will miss most about losing SK according to Larry Davis yesterday in his post game comments. Holding other players accountable and making sure everyone goes hard every minute of practice. Early on during SK's freshman year MC said that he would be a leader and the face of the program. I don't know if Troy has the mental makeup for it. I hope so.

I think Troy will and can be GREAT if he gets the confidence in his abilities. He used to push the ball but in that last part of the season started pulling the Guyn method of coming back to pretty much get a hand off from the rebounder and walking it up the court to start our slow stand around while SK runs around trying to get free for a shot deep in the shot clock while passing up open shots that most teams around the country shoot offense. KJ needs more minutes he was the only guard aside from SK that showed any confidence to step up and take shots or try to create. Troy showed a few minutes in some games that he can do it. Its just getting these young guys confident to do what they can do. I honestly feel like it is partially Micks fault he pulls guys way to quick after making one mistake. Also always stresses bad shots and taking the perfect shot almost. I feel like we play on egg shells out there and the kids just want to pass and not shoot bc they dont want to upset him and come off the floor. Let the kids play. Give them some offensive freedom. Yeah they are going to take some bad shots but they are also going to gain confidence and the offense will start to not look like a bunch of robots out there doing the same thing over and over and over again. I really hope the new guys can give us some inside presence too. That hurt us all year but I think main. Thing has been that lack of offensive confidence or swagger to just play the game!

There was nothing wrong with the offense we ran yesterday. If we would have made half the two footers we missed we win. If your offense is getting you to the foul line and bunnies there isn't a problem with it . We also forced Harvard into many TO's that we couldn't convert. Yesterday's loss was about the players inability to make lay ups. Mick's game plan was not the issue.

Also just confirmed Dan Cronin saying same thing which 2 players is not said.

He didnt say within the week. However the most chatter has been about 5th year transfers. A big 10 player and Bryce Jones from UNLV. I was told the Big10 transfer was unlikely. Torian is still playing and has not indicated what his timeline is. A lot of moving parts right now. Anything could happen.
