I bet it’s really frustrating to be a cosch where people bitch about us being all defense and then no offense.

Then turn around and win one with your offense, and have people still asking about your defense.

It’s a thankless job in this city.

I agree they should be allowed to play through mistakes, as you said Cumberland and Evans gets these chances. I just don't think mick trusts cane on defensive end. However Kyle is a different story, he has lapses about every play. But the less we turn it over, the better the chance of winning.

Kyle needs somebody to guard. He's doesn't have the ability to guard the perimeter, but thats not really his fault. Most big guys don't guard well out there.

He had nobody to guard today and he was slow to rotate and defend the rim, probably cause he was farther away than he'd like to be.

but he still gave us 8 points on 4-7 shooting with 4 rebounds in 23 minutes.

This is ridiculous.

Cane and Jenifer were really good today.

Jenifer had an offensive rating of 190
Cane had 181.

That’s great from both.

Stop pitting out players against each other. Both played great
It's not pitting our guys vs each other. It's wanting the best players to play the bulk of the minutes. This isn't 3rd grade basketball where everyone gets relatively equal playing time. Also going out on a limb and saying not one rostered scholarship player has ever been on this forum, so our posts aren't causing some division.

100% agree

Did you listen to the very first thing he said in the video about defense and finding situational defense to stop tulsa

i did, but i still don't think that was an answer to the question asked.

all the guy asked was if there was a common theme to some defensive breakdowns over the past 4 games. mick only spoke about this specific game in his opening comments.

a team usually great on defense has been less than great 4 games in a row, all the guy wanted to know is if mick saw some similarities between the games. is that really a tough or mean question?

Well given its all he ever wants to talk about after a loss, is it that crazy to ask multiple questions about it?

I don’t think people are making these things up. There is a reason every college basketball media member in the country wonders if we can score enough every year

you think this city is bad? i can't imagine what the media is like in others.

this is about the easiest place to be. has a reporter even asked mick about why cane and jenifer split minutes? other cities media would have been drilling him all year.

Yeah it may not have merited micks reaction I don’t think micks comments were ridiculous in any way, maybe berg said something in a blog or something that pissed mick off and that’s how he took it out on him idk

the thing is every player makes a lazy pass or a mistake on defense. it happens to them all. they are humans, not robots.

cumberland was amazing today, he still had 3 turnovers. he still missed a rotation a gave up a layup when he got caught ball watching. it happens. im not saying its not a big deal, 3 turnovers is never good, giving up free layups is never good, but its not the end of the world either.

i just wish everybody was allowed to play through their mistakes. i think we'd be better off for it.

I couldn't believe Cumberland gave that up. That's such a good sign for his development though that a small mistake like that was shocking.

Agree

actually not really. mick was talking about we had to play with no center today and scott did a great job of it. we struggled before we went to that lineup.

the question asked was if there was anything specific hes seen over and over again for why the defense has struggled the last 4 games.

mick jumped on him.

it really wasn't a bad or odd question...

Yeah that response caught me off guard. Then I laughed about it.

I think it's just a thankless job period. There are thousands of us fans and one of him.

Man I wish my team was like that in 3rd grade. I played up on the 4th grade team and in the state tournament the coach (my dad) asked me if I wanted to play or if I wanted the team to win lol.

Lucky for Mick that thankless job pays 2.2 million a year. I'm sure he can handle such a thankless gig

I'm not saying guarding the perimeter is something he should Excel at, but he repeatedly didn't box his man out. He was biggest guy on court both in height and girth and got out rebounded the whole game. As I said in my post before, if he just boxes out, he wouldn't get pulled as much. With as good he is offensively, we need him on court. If your a big guy for Cincinnati, you better put a body on somebody. While Scott doesn't have half the offense he does, he has been a willing rebounder. I watch the team closely and understand basketball, Kyle isn't doing the little things like boxing out and he is missing defensive assignments. Love the guy and he will get it together, but it's the truth.

Clark got career win #100 today too. I think he's 2 away from tying Caupain for the most. Kevin Johnson didn't play in a win as a FR so he's at 101.

Washington finished at I believe 33-1 in his home career at UC. That's f*cking insane.
Unbelievable statistic. We're really going to miss him next year. Hope to see him and Gary making money some where playing ball. Going to be hard to ever field a team with Two bigs like we got now.

right i agree with all that. i just think when he doesn't have a guy to guard and he gets pulled farther away from the basket than he's comfortable, he has trouble rebounding and rotating and everything. he's not exactly the quickest guy on his feet.

and i also think it wears him down so he's a step too slow at times.
