But I’m not debating the yearly plus minus.

I was saying Jenifer played well tonight and that tonight’s plus minus didn’t mean he played bad.

Both played great and if we’re going to go far, both will need to conintue to play well

I don't understand what you're even trying to argue. It's literally not even debatable if you look at the numbers and drop your hard-on for Jennifer and Cronin. Broome is clearly the superior player and it hurts the team to not have him starting the games. I'm not saying Jennifer has no business being on the team but he has no business being our starter and playing the majority of the minutes this season when we have Broome on the bench.

The plus minus of this game is just a microcosm of what the entire year has been and if you're too stubborn to see it you can join your pal Mick on the one and done train.

Broome averages more points, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks then Jennifer and has the highest +/- on the team...let that sink in fellas.

Dunno if it means anything but cane is playing with the starters in 5 on 5 walk through
Just reading through the thread now, so this might be already mentioned but because Jennifer had the flu or something (they tested him for all kinds of things like mono and the flu etcetera per postgame show) coach probably was not sure if he was going to start JJ or not.

On the postgame radio show coach said he thought it probably be better to start him versus have him come off the bench cold

What are you talking about. I want cane on the floor for about 28-30 minutes a game. I just don’t care who starts as much as other people do.

My point had nothing to do with cane but that Jenifer quietly had a really good efficient game offensively today.

Mick trusts him to start games and finish off games ( not turning it over) but he asks cane to do way more in the meat of the game. I’m just not hung up on this like other people are.

The key to this team winning is not Cane Broome. He alone can’t do it ( he didn’t at sacred heart) the key is jarron, Kyle, Jacob and Gary all having good games. That’s what makes us good. Cane is our secret weapon that pushes us over the top. But we are nothing with those other 4.

I mean I guess i just don’t understand why people are bitching when cane has played big minutes in every one of the losses minus Houston and we still lost. Him scoring 16 doesn’t help us win if our other guys are struggling. This is why I’m not concerned with what Justin or cane do because they aren’t the guys we need to step up in big games

people are probably still bitching about it because in 3 of the 4 losses (i dont have the data for the florida game, im not sure why it wasn't recorded on the site) Cane played 61 minutes, Jenifer played 55 minutes. Cane is +4 and Jenifer is -32. That -32 is so hard to come back from.

he still played 17 vs x, still played 23 vs florida, played 27 vs houston and then just 11 vs wichita (which were an awful 11 minutes).

so when you lose 3 of those in close games, people still bitch because they know Broome needs to play mid 30's minutes in those games like Cumberland, Evans, and Clark do.

or we can still give jenifer his 15-20 and try to climb out of the giant hole his minutes on the court put us in.

Exactly. Why would you want to spend the first 5-10min of each half digging yourself a whole you need to spend the rest of the game getting out of. The only reason the +/- isn't worse between the two is because we play so many bad teams that Jennifer can keep up with. Against our best competition he has been mediocre at best and typically a detriment.

And most importantly letting Cane play extended minutes earlier on in the year, and maybe, just maybe some of those miscues would be worked through by now. Or you know, maybe have our best crunch time lineup have played a lot more together outside of those four games and maybe some of those games have a different outcome.

i dont know. every coach i've ever heard speak talks about the less time you play guys together the better they play. Basically they say the more and more time they spend together on the court the less they jell. you don't know how many times i've heard coaches say you can't win with a group of seniors cause they've just spent too much time on the court together.

oh thats right, its the complete opposite of what i just wrote.

the thing is every player makes a lazy pass or a mistake on defense. it happens to them all. they are humans, not robots.

cumberland was amazing today, he still had 3 turnovers. he still missed a rotation a gave up a layup when he got caught ball watching. it happens. im not saying its not a big deal, 3 turnovers is never good, giving up free layups is never good, but its not the end of the world either.

i just wish everybody was allowed to play through their mistakes. i think we'd be better off for it.

With you on this. I'm a Mick guy but I F'ing hate this. Dudes make a mistake and immediately start jogging towards the bench before Mick can even gesture to a player. It's ridiculous. Allows for zero looseness.

That said I'm officially worried. Post game on CBS sports nailed it. We've struggled against every team that is of the caliber that we'll face in the first and second round...not how you wanna feel heading into the tournament.

I don’t think people are making these things up. There is a reason every college basketball media member in the country wonders if we can score enough every year

That's funny, I've heard the exact opposite from the media all year..

you think this city is bad? i can't imagine what the media is like in others.

this is about the easiest place to be. has a reporter even asked mick about why cane and jenifer split minutes? other cities media would have been drilling him all year.

Lived in plenty of places, Cincinnati has terrible sports fans. That's a fact.

The media here is to scared to do so. They don’t want to lose access to the team.

mick isn't splitting their minutes just cause though.

he actually likes to get behind so we can get the full potential of broome.

he's doing it for broome guys. totally.

He keeps talking about how sick Justin has been - have a sinking feeling if he's better we'll see Cane back on the bench for half the game (i don't wish Justin ill, just wish Cronin some sanity)

I bet it’s really frustrating to be a cosch where people bitch about us being all defense and then no offense.

Then turn around and win one with your offense, and have people still asking about your defense.

It’s a thankless job in this city.

Really...I loved the game today - wish they were all in the 80's

So who cried today? And when?

I'll admit, I got a little teary when Gary got emotional on the postgame interview with Dan and Terry.

It just means a lot as a fan when you can know for a fact that the team/program means more to the players than it does to fanatics who have been tuned in for years and years and years. That isn't always the case.
