UC fans are splitting...

Cmon get real. Fans are tired of losing.

Trust me when I say that I am SICK of losing. It's painful. I cannot stand it. Keeping this in mind, I refuse to act irrationally.

Emotion makes people think illogically. I refuse to give in to emotion. Detach your feelings from the situation and take an objective view. If you still arrive at the same conclusion, you've done more than 90% of our fans.

I DO NOT think it is fair to fire Mick at this point. I will give him this year and next. If he locks up a dynamite 2011 class, then he stays longer.

I would want at least 4 years if put in Mick's position.

I am very satisfied to be 14-9 in year 4 of this monumental rebuilding process. You have to crawl before you can walk.

The problem is most fans don't understand how low we were at one point. These people either forgot or never completely understood how bad that situation was.

To the Livinglegends point, yes most fans are tired or losing including myself. 4 years ago I would have taken this without questions.

But as a friend has always told me, expectations change.

I couldn"t agree more.

Fans do not realize how bad the situation was. How easy we forget that before Cronin was even hired by The University we had two lame duck coaches for a total of three years. That equals basically zero recruiting. Very damaging.

I respect the job Coach Cronin has done given the circumstances and am very optimistic about the future.

While I have my doubts about some of Cronin's substitution patterns and in-game decisions, I generally agree with your statement.

I have some friends that didn't follow UC bball after Huggins' termination for approximatley two years. Some of these friends jumped on last year and are now fully on the train. Funny thing is, some of these people are the ones that have called for Cronin's head.

They weren't here when we won 2 conference games, but they complain when we win 8. Irony.

The only thing I ask is that we try to remain civil, and avoid making the arguments personal. We can argue all day long that DV has regressed, or is simply making way for more talent around him..but calling another member dumb because he has a different take on the situation doesn't really advance your own argument.
(the above is simply an example, not an actual occurance)

I would never call you a big dummy___ Lamont

Maybe 4 years ago if someone told me we would be 14-9 I would have been happy...but frankly, we have lost a lot of games we SHOULD have won thus being 14-9 is dissipointing and can be put on the coaching staff. Not only that, but tell me one player that has developed since he got to college under Mick. As Great1 said- expectations change and mine changed from 4 years a go. we are a better team then 14-9. If you dont agree then you should be happy with what Mick has done but I think we are better and lost to many close games--which is on the coach IMO.

Well said...have heard that from many fans.

Another thing those of you who say Mick haters are going to hate this win.
I can speak for myself and most others that we are Bearcat fans first. Put Mick aside we want to see the program succeed.

Rashad Bishop, Ibrahima Thomas (this year alone), Yancy Gates ( #'s dont lie), Darnell Wilks (Not as much as I would hope but has progressed), Cashmere Wright (this year alone, he is much better now then where he was).

That is 5 right there.

Are you saying they have progressed?? At OK State Thomas averaged 8 and 4. So according to your "#'s dont lie", he has regressed. and can you compare Cash to anything else? We have less than 1 year to look at. Wilks barely sees the court most times, plus Gates numbers are basically the same as last year? I may be confused, but I think your saying those players have gotten better?? Your right, the numbers dont lie, they havent done anything better.

Your negativity is old.

OK, Thomas is now in the Big East not the Big XII and that is a big difference. From the start of this year until the point we are right now Thomas and Cash are playing MUCH better.

Gates does a great deal for this team. He demands double teams and his numbers may not be that much higher but his production is much higher. ( Basketball talk... sorry).

For this bullshit that Deonta has gotten worse, that is insane. Don't you think it is odd that Deonta's numbers go down when Yancy got here last year, and then Lance here this year?

The progression stuff doesn't hold water like the non UC fans think.

Larry Davis, Biggie and Toyloy may not progress but it isn't because they aren't getting better it is because we have better talent now.

Biggie doesn't play because we have better younger players not because he isn't getting better. I don't understand why people have a hard time realizing this.

Why come onto a UC board to try to argue why UC isn't good. I welcome opposing fans but it can't be fun coming on here talking about a team you hate.

If you are a UC fan, it must be miserable to be in your shoes constantly looking for bad in every situation ( a win verse UCONN on the road )

Ok Again here are the Facts, No biasy here:

Gates in 09' ...10.6 pts/game....10' 10.3pts/game
09'....6.5 rbs/game......10' 6.1 rbs/game
Dixon in 09'......7.3 pts/game and 31%from3
10' 5.8pts/game and 21% from 3
Willkes is a non factor still averages 2pts a game
Cash has nothing to be compared to, if so he got that valuable adivce from his parents. Remember??
Ibrahima is starting to play better but it still has not even been a full year.

and VAUGHN, yea he dominated Sophomore year and has completely declined

I guess you have to understand the game a little bit to realize that Gates production is going up. Deonta has not declined he just doesn't need to score at the same clip.

Deonta was never a "great" talent but he was our best and he was asked to score big numbers. Now he has a different role.

Who's fault is it that Dixon's shooting % from three has gone down? Please explain how that is Mick's fault.

You are right. I know nothing about basketball. Please tell me how Gates production has gone up all knowing one?? Stats don't lie.

As for Dixon he avg 7.3pts in 08-09 compared to about 5 this year. His ability or lack of to shoot 3s is not all his fault. Is anyone working with these guys on their shot? Cuz he isnt the only one struggling this year.

Before you start taking personal shots again, bring me facts and put your bball ego aside. Playing intramurals means nothing on this board.

I guess it must be miserable to be in love with mick, too bad he has a child and doesnt like men, sorry. But really, your not even making sense, you keep saying how all these players have gotten better and you say numbers dont lie. Well there numbers haven't gotten better. They are worse.

When Thomas first began playing, he was jacking up awful 3's and didn't have much of a post presence. Now he's making the few 3's he takes and is someone opposing teams need to account for inside. I think he's grown quite a bit in the past month.

Still waiting to learn a little bit more about the game there chosen one.....

Ibrahima, yes is improving inside. However he pretty much switched positions. He used to to take outside jumpers. Now he is down low. The guy is 8'9, he should dominate in the paint. And he is still averaging under 6 pts a game. Also sat out a year, took him a while to knock the rust off. Would like to see more out of him.
