Just saw it also, so sad. I really hope he wasn't drinking and that it was just a freak accident. Very sad either way, he was a local boy out of Hamilton. Thankfully the team has an off week, playing after something so devastating would be hard. As you said David, my thoughts and prayers go out to the team, school, and families involved.

He wasn't the driver at least, his name has not been released. My guess is because it was alcohol related, although it could be because they couldn't notify the family yet. Nine times out of ten one car crashes are alcohol related, especially in good weather. I'm sure more info will come forward in the coming days.

Cincy.com made it sound as if he was driving, so now I know that he wasn't the driver.

"Police have not identified the fourth person in the vehicle that was traveling west-bound on Stahlheber Road at the intersection of Morman Road when it went off the road at about 10:20 p.m. ejecting two passengers and leaving two others trapped in the car, said Butler County Sheriff deputies."

"Deputies said the car left the road for unknown reasons and the that alcohol may be a factor in the crash."

Wow, terrible terrible news..My thoughts go out to their families and friends. I hope our players can rally for them and dedicate the rest of the season in their honor.

Your a complete idiot, coaches and schools invest a lot of time recruiting these players they get to know them personal and their family. To think this is a publicity stunt.... your a absolute idiot.

You should watch your mouth. The last thing I am is a complete idiot. You should show more respect to people when posting. It just seemed odd to me that they would do this. I've never heard of a team putting another team's logo on their helmet and it's not that uncommon for a player to die midseason. In fact it happens several times a year. It was just my honest reaction to it and I did say I wasn't sure how I felt. Perhaps Jason was right and I was being a little cynical about it, just seems odd to me. I think it would be more fitting to put his initials on the helmet. But to be honest he doesn't go to that school, never did and I would venture to bet very few if any of the players on the roster have even met the kid and yet they are the ones wearing the C-paw logo. Now if the players knew him and came forward with the idea then I would be all for it.

Name calling will not be tolerated. There was nothing wrong with David's post and he is entitled to his opinion. I personally don't agree with it but he is welcome to post it. Keep it civil and we won't have any problems. Consider this a warning before a ban.

You do have a point and if it is an attention grab, shame on WMU. I just couldn't imagine a school doing something in that poor of taste. I would think this would have to be approved by the athletic department and I am sure the coach had to give his reasons for wanting to do this. President Ono was appreciative so I choose to view it the same way until I see a reason to view it differently.

It doesn't make sense for it to be an attention grab. It's not like they are going to gain money out of it. Maybe they would get a blurb on ESPN out of it, but what would that even accomplish? My initial thought was just, why? The more I think about it the more I'm sure it's just a gesture of good will. My guess is they saw the story and thought, "wow that's the kid we were pushing for" and this is the only way they knew how to honor him.
