I'll be going to the game. I will try to provide the occasional update here if I can, but I will be with my dad and uncle so I don't want to be on my phone too much.

As for the game itself, I like the way we have defended this year. We are pressuring the ball much better than we have in the past. We are also a strong rebounding team. But our offense simply has to be more consistent.

So far this year, we have scored 69 points in 73 possessions against Mt. St. Mary's, 65 points in 63 possessions against IPFW, 76 points in 68 possessions against Florida A&M, and 54 points in 57 possessions against Savannah St. Those aren't good numbers against solid competition, and when you factor in that the teams we played have been lower level D1 teams, those numbers are quite frankly pretty bad.

There have been encouraging signs. We pass the ball much better and move more on offense. But we have also seemed sloppy at times, we haven't run the fast break well and we haven't finished around the rim well. In order to be a tournament team, and win tonight, we have to improve our consistency.

Hopefully it starts tonight.

The Bearcats are getting the ball inside, jumping out to a 13-3 lead. Bearcat defense is playing tough, especially against Wright.

25 to 11 with just under 10 left. Yancy has 2 fouls and the refs are calling a lot of fouls, but so far so good.

The Bearcats look great, Wright[Dayton] has been a non factor, and even with Gates on the bench for most of the first half, the Bearcats offense has been effective.

42-19 Bearcats at the half

42 to 19 at half. I can't remember the last time UC played this well. We really scout well defensively and our ball pressure is the best its ever been under Mick.

Offensively we are passing extremely well and taking good shots consistently. Rashad has played especially well. And its all been done without Yancy.

Hopefully they can keep it up.

Based on what?

I assume you are referring to the scouting comment. Every out of bounds play Dayton ran was perfectly defended. It was like our players knew where the Dayton players were going. Its hard to explain without showing you on tape, but there were a lot of times where Dayton tried to run misdirections and our guys went straight to the spot Dayton players wanted to end up.

We also knew who was a shooter and who wasn't and allowed the non shooters space to shoot and it payed off.

Finally, our transition defense tonight was absolutely fantastic. It helped that we were so proficient on offense before we called the dogs off in the final 8 minutes or so, but it was still an impressive performance.

Overall just an incredible game from a UC perspective. I don't know how good or bad Dayton is, but we were absolutely dominant. It was extremely fun to watch. Hopefully it continues.

Great coming out party for Dixon. I will admit that I did not see that beat-down coming tonight. Lets hope this team continues to build and grow as this season goes on. I have said on this board in the past, and I still think that this season could be special.
Go Bearcats!

Wow, what a game! I can't even pick out any negatives really. Our defense was tremendous, and as someone already said, our scouting was excellent. They let Staten shoot from wherever, and played great D on Chris Wright.

It was definitely awesome to see our guys playing with smiles on their faces and showing some emotion.

For those who have yet to see this team in action, I would suggest going to a game ASAP if you can. A ton of fun to watch.

Awesome. Our offensive scoring dropped off a bit in the second half, but other than that a great game.

Thomas just had a leg cramp, nothing major.

Yancys foul trouble was a bit disappointing.

Well, I mean we called off the dogs with about 8-9 minutes left. Even early in the second half, we were using most of the shot clock and still getting good looks.

With the lineup we had in at the end of the game, I don't expect them to score many points. BUT the thing I loved to see was that group was busting their tails on defense even with us up by 35ish. Loved seeing Biggie come in and get some blocks.
