UC vs UConn

Thank God Cronin at least has the balls right now to call out Cash and SK for being boneheads and blowing the game for us by taking stupid shots and not working the shot clock. Straight up said our players aren't following any scouting reports, aren't doing what they are told, and taking the worse shots possible. That pretty much sums it up, but its been that way for the past 3-4 games.

There is a Radiohead song that goes, "We do it to ourselves we do, thats why it really hurts." sums everything with how I feel.

I just noticed that stat...its unreal, how is it possible to have as many offensive rebounds as we did and still can't score... must be that damn epidemic.

They scored 21 points in the second half....UConn scored 18 points in the second half. You hold the team to 18 points and still lose. Pathetic.

napier and boatright combined for 36 so that is really not that bad. they guy that absolutely killed us and hit big 3 after big 3 in deandre daniels. he hit the one in regulation that cut it to 1. he had 17 points which is absolutely killer to our chances of wining. wright 2-9 from 3 seems to be the norm for him now. parker played a heck of a game going 7-12. shaq gave some good minutes. rubles made some good plays. our inability to guard daniels really lost us this game I think

It's hard to tell guys to shoot whenever and however many times you want and then try to tell them not to. He never had a problem with those shots earlier in the season. Bad habits are hard to break.

if wright is playing so bad why does guyn only play 11 mins?!?!??! he scored 5 pts in those 11 mins and he could actually defend their quick guards. wright got burnt multiple times but would get bailed out by mbodj

agreed agreed agreed. I just quit trying to make sense and rationalize things we don't do because clearly UC does not get it.

The one 3 that SK took from the corner off an inbound pass was absurd! I've seen guys get off better shots when they are trying to beat the shot clock.

And why not put Guyn on Napier at the end of the game instead of SK when UC was up 2? Napier absolutely blew by SK because SK isn't very quick and isn't a very good defender.

Incredibly stupid shot. So the question is why are their four year player and their 5th year PG taking so many bad shots? At this point that shouldn't be an issue but it is. Who is that on?

why not go zone either. Ollie did that to us and it definitely fooled Cronin. letting napier drive that easily is so frustrating to watch when everybody knows he is going to drive. go zone and make him drive it into the zone where you have help. make daniels make the shot, not napier. we let one guy dictate our defense. daniels was the benefit of a couple assists from napier.

IMO, its on the players. Seriously, at this point, they should not be making the same mistakes over and over again in the final minutes of games. They are out there on the court with the ball in their hands and they continue to take stupid 3 after 3 and have costly turnovers when it matters. I am not high on Cronin's "offensive game plan" but the final 3 min of games are on the players. Especially listening to Cronin on postgame, I mean what else is he suppose to do when our players consistently suck balls? At this point you might as well just stick the 2nd string guys in if they can listen and execute what the coaches say.

in the first half we pushed the ball up the floor and got baskets because of it. in the second half, we didn't push the ball up the floor. I don't get I really don't. this loss really stings but it doesn't surprise me. what does surprise is how we continue to find different ways to lose games.

gtown... free throws
providence..... couldn't score
UConn.... couldn't defend, couldn't score, blew 6 pt lead.

this team is really good at losing in a variety of fashions

Maybe you are right but I'm sick and tired of always blaming the players. Again, it was Lance, Deonte, Yancy, and now it is your three players that have been with the program for at least 4 years? Eventually it leads to the top. Why aren't these three players better this year? Remember everyone talking about how this was one of the best backcourts in the country? Is it even one of the top 5 backcourts in the Big East?

I will be quick tonight..... The refs f****** sucked, with the bs over and back and "jump ball," even though no UCONN guy was touching the ball. Our offense was bad, but not in the normal way. Usually, our first halves are awful and the second halves are much better. Recently, we have not closed games out well. Our shot selection becomes progressively worse. Between this and the horrible officiating, we lost this game. Time for us to fix what we can control, which is shot selection.

I hear what you're saying and agree but I guess looking solely at this years team, the players have gotta be responsible. There is no reason why sk and cash only shoot 3's in the final minuted of close games. That is on them and if they're too dumb r stubborn not to change, its on them. You know the coaches arent telling them to shoot. But truthfully its a mix of both coaches and players and how they have been trained and how they practice over the course of a season. Overall, in the end, its just very disappointing.

Missed the game in real time. Just watched it on ESPN3.
First, I want to credit the coaches/team for actually having movement on offense. I look at it as a "too late" learning experience. Had we played with movement all year, we would have a better W/L record.
That being said, what's with all the 3's when we needed drives in the final 3/4 minutes? We did see some stuff we haven't seen all season, especially from our reserves. I have a feeling the lineup will change in our next 3 games to see if we can find a mix.
I agree that it's frustrating watching this team play. They excel at blowing leads. Maybe #1 in the BE in that stat. It didn't help that UConn was on fire from 3 land. It was good to see Cheik go to the rim twice, Jermaine made a nice baseline move, Shaq's starting to come around, and even Kelvin held his ground. Rubles still can't play offense. And even though JaQuon goes to the floor after every shot, I'll still take a team of 5 Parkers any day. He always gives his all. So IF we get a NCAA bid, we'll be bottom seed and have to play one of the big four first round. That could change with a couple of wins, but I'm not holding my breath. All remaining games will go down to the buzzer (probably even USF) - so at least they won't be boring. But, I hold no expectations. Good luck 'Cats!

Either team with low bball iq, coaching staff with low bball iq, or players that don't listen to the coaching staff.
