UC/XU fan role reversal

It is hard to take you seriously when you say this just a few posts after saying:

"That is why if Kenyon had not broke his ankle and UC would have won the NCAA tourney it would have been a hollow victory as UC lost to XU that year."

If all you cared about was winning NC's then why would the XU loss matter? You made it clear your season is based on the XU game.

Have you ever talked to All-American George Wilson? George, who played the game, says if you lose to X or Miami it is a bad season. George knows, he beat X and Miami and Dayton every year, 9-0 against them, freshman were not eligible when George played.

Welp, to no surprise you didn't explain why you contradicted yourself. Its ok, once you get into a corner it can be tough to get out of it. I know you simply like to troll so I won't call you out as much.

First off, most of the time the only reason I give UC fans crap, is because they give it to X about the schedule ALL the time, then they lose to Presby? I even got texts from UC fans making fun of X for ONLY winning by 6 against Miami.

It's comical to see how much UC fans want to deny the rivalry. You guys claim you could care less about X, until you win the crosstown. Bob Huggins cared about the Crosstown so much, one play even called the week leading up the game "hell week." You would think that would get results, but I'm pretty sure Huggins didn't have a winning record vs X.

It's also amusing to see those who think UC still is the best program in the city. You can't go to 1 sweet 16 in 15 years and claim your the best program. Not anymore.

I am not trying to discount the rivalry. It's a great rivalry and winning the game is very important to me. Outside of the shootout I do not care what X does. I don't watch their games, I'm not interested in their team. I will submit that I care come tourney time because I want to see them exit the tourney as quickly as possible.

The season will take a 180 if we manage to beat x

There is nothing wrong with the season as is. Mick is using the pre season to prepare for the Big East schedule, Starting slow and finishing strong is a lot better than starting strong and tanking at the end.

This team isn't even close to being tough enough to go through the BE successfully.

Yeah Ralph, I'm sure that Mick's strategy before the season started was to lose to Presbyterian and Marshall in order to prepare his team for the Big East.

You're the worst

Not my fault if you do not listen to coach. After the second game of the season on his post game show Mick said he was using the OOC games as practice for the Big East. Call WLW and get the tape.

UC has 2 national championships? Are any of those players still alive? Sheesh.

Seriously. Who cares what happened 30, 40, or 50 years ago? Recruits certainly don't.

This is probably why UC is struggling to recruit and maintain a winning tradition. Too much living in the past. It reminds me of the Reds and the Big Red Machine. Too many people, especially old people, hang their hats on the past and don't pay enough attention to the current situation.

Currently, Xavier has been kicking UC's ass in terms of achievement. Now granted......they didn't have their b-ball program destroyed by a witch (Zimpher), who chose to fire the head coach at the worst possible time of the year, and while heading into a new super b-ball conference (the Big East), which ultimately destroyed 2 recruiting classes. I will give you that. Xavier possibly enjoyed some upswing from that whole UC debacle, frankly.

But nevertheless, Xavier is better than UC right now. And Mick doesn't give me much confidence that things will change anytime soon.

Xavier is not relevant, UC is THE University of Cincinnati. UC has Cincinnati on their jersey. UC has been to the Final 4 six times and won 2 National Championships, X has never been to a Final 4 much less win a National Championship. UC is Cincinnati, X will always be the poor step child to UC, who wins games between the two is not relevant. The Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908. The White Sox won the World Series in 2005. The Cubs remain Chicago's team while the White Sox remain the poor step child.

So you don't agree with your friend, George Wilson?

"My old friend All-American George Wilson has always said that the 2 teams you never want to lose to are XU and Miami, you beat them and you have had a great season no matter what else happened, lose to them and it was a bad year"

Ralph? You're still alive? No wonder this board is cluttered with some nonsense.

I agree completely with George, ruining your season and being relevant have nothing to do with one another, they are mutually exclusive not mutually inclusive. Losing to an irrelevant poor step child ruins your season.

There is no bigger UC fan than me but if something doesn't click with this team in the next couple weeks they are going to get drilled at Cintas. Xavier is clearly a better team right now and their upperclassmen lead. They are tough minded as well and the Bearcats have shown no toughness. They are doing nothing well from ft's to rebounding. I think they have potential to be very good but aren't doing the things they need to get there.

Let us give this some thought. UC beat Miami by 9, XU beat Miami by 6. Both UC and XU have played relatively weak schedules. X Beat Vandy by 12 at Vandy in OT while Cleveland State beat Vandy at Vandy by 13 in regulation. That makes Cleveland State 1 point better than X. XU plays in the weak A-10 conference, UC plays in the greatest basketball conference ever created by mankind, 11 NCAA Tourney bids last season. Any year XU beats UC it is a major upset. UC beat XU 66-46 last season. Win or lose UC will always be Cincinnati's team. XU will always be the poor stepchild.

Alive and well. The Ralph is a perverbial encyclopedia of information, no nonsense here.

Encyclopedia's are outdated. Everything is computerized now. I guess that means you are outdated too.

Anyway, UC is Xavier's bitch now. It's going to be ugly at the Shootout.

If Mick actually said that he should be fired........it sure looks like his team thinks the games have been a practice.
