Cronin lover/apologist must be a synonym for intelligent people. Its time to get the bench as many minutes as possible. We are a week and a half away from March. You have to keep everyone sharp because your bench is going to have to contribute if you want to make a deep run. However good for Cronin. He has done such a good job that he has his detractors resorting to his unfair treatment to the walk ons. Haha. Wow. Anyways dominant performance from the guys. Were very focused. Now its time to turn up the heat. 3 big games that can solidify a really high seed and get us a conference championship. Like Cronin said last night after the game, we have accomplished a lot so far but the real season starts now. Lets hit our peak and go on a run baby!
Jack, CaptDale is a good fan. He has lived in California a bit to long is all. If he had his way they wouldn't even keep score.

Hahaha. Yeah, everyone needs a participation certificate, and the walk-ons didn't get one yesterday. I think I saw the parents of Tobler and Cox threatening Cronin that they would pull their kids from the team if they didn't get to play more. Especially since they were responsible for bringing the snacks for the team at the end of the game. Not fair, not fair.

Sorry, but UCF flat out sucks. Put our performance tonight in the next 3 games, and we become UCF. One thing we did well was wait for and take open shots (mostly). I was glad to see the Frosh get time AND points. They really needed some minutes, Too bad UCF had no D for them to play against. Passing was good, rebounding was OK, but a lot of volleyball out there. Sykes is only 6'6" but pulls down 10 boards. How does that happen? McBride used his body well if only in slow motion. We were outrebounded ?!
Now for my real beef. We're up 25+ with over 3 minutes to go and the illustrious coach elects to sit his poor walk-ons. They're not "owed" anything, but they bust their ass for the good of the team in EVERY practice, and Cronin should acknowledge that by at least getting them in a blowout like this. They have one more chance for their minute of fame before the AAC Tournament - assuming we blowout Rutgers like we did UCF. It was the same with Epp last year. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that a crumb is like prime rib to those 2 guys. Sorry all you Cronin lovers/apologists, but that is just wrong! One or two f@#$%g minutes. I can't wait to see all of you defend him on this point.
He's brought the team a long way, and vastly improved his coaching from the beginning of the year, but this is a fail!!

I am totally speechless

Are you kidding! I know first hand that Zack Tobler is loving every minute of his time with the team. The hard work is part of it, for him & the other players. As a walk-on you know going in that playing time will be limited or non-existent. Doesn't matter to him, he's apart of it.....historical program, conference leader, #7 in the country, heading to the NCAA Tourney, playing with one of the best in UC history SK, traveling around the country like a rock star.....THE HARD WORK IS WORTH THAT. Just ask him.
Mick Cronin is getting his team ready for a historic run. Kudos to Mick & his staff.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

As I said before there are guys that hate to see this Coach have success. How nice is it that they are reduced to complaining about walk on playing time.

That is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.

I didn't say they played badly, I said THAT performance against a lousy team like UCF wouldn't hold up vs the top tier. They will have to tighten the screws to win the next 3 - step it up at least one level.
BTW, thanks Waite, but winning is much more important to me that anything else. I'm not one of those Yuppie parents who plays their kids for the "experience". But recognition is part of winning (even a crumb).
KJ looked the best he's looked all season. Thought I'd toss that in for the KJ posters from earlier months. Fortunately he got a chance to show it.

Nobody has beaten UCF by more on their court than UC did yesterday.

Btw, very odd time to come after Cronin apologists.

Also love the fact we got a Rick James and Billy Madison reference in this thread.

What are you talking about? They completely dominated both ends of the floor. They were up 28 in the second half on the road. Got contributions from everyone, played lock down defense, got good shots, forced turnovers, and had their best offensive efficiency rating in weeks. They play like they did last night consistently not only will they will win the next 3 but much more than that in the month of March. Being negative to be negative is so unbecoming. Take off the damn blinders.

I guess Memphis better do the same thing considering they only beat them by 6 at home a week ago, and only beat them by 10 in Orlando. UL only beat them by 17 at home also. Guess they both need to tighten the screws a little more.

We held UCF to 49 and 51 points respectively. The only other team to hold them that low was SMU who held them to 46.

They played arguably the worst defensive half of the season giving up 50 points to Temple, and followed it up by beating Louisville. How you could take anything negative from last night is beyond me. They jumped from 27 to 20 in the KenPom from that one game, which tells you how efficiently they played last night.

This was the perfect game at the perfect time for UC.

Why?
1. They didn't have to sweat it out/deal with too much mental stress.
2. Got everyone involved; boosted bench confidence.
3. Morale boost. Did you see everyone on the bench going nuts each time a different guy made a play? Great team game.
4. Showed improvement offensively heading into the end of the year.

Yes, games here on out will be tough, but this one gives them confidence that they can meet the challenge.

Capt, dressing Down the coach for not playing walk ons and essentially calling for fans to disagree is not a well thought out comment. Using the minutes in the game for players who have a chance to see meaningful minutes in the most important stretch of the season is not something a rational fan would consider as a slap in the face.

Yeah, one thing we haven't been doing well recently is beating bad teams comfortably. Even at home games against USF, Houston and Temple were all closer than they should have been. That's not the end of the world, but great teams generally blow bad teams out at home and win comfortably on the road (there can be exceptions in a game here or there, like Kansas at the dreadful TCU last year or Florida at home against Auburn last night).

To go on the road and beat UCF as soundly as we did was very encouraging though. None of the other top 4 teams in our conference beat them by more down there. We are getting our team healthy and rested at the right time and I think its going to pay off down the stretch.

That obviously doesn't guarantee a win against a really good Louisville team. But last night was an encouraging sign...

Top tier teams know how to play basketball. You can't compare the way UCF plays to how Louisville or UConn will play us. UCF was just attempting to take their man to the hole or chuck threes on offense and on defense were only interested in hacking and not playing any real defense and the refs let them. They played absolutely no team ball. Hard to prepare to play a team like that. We got anything we wanted on offense. The only negative I might could take from last night was the rebounding, but the way UCF shot bricks all night there was no way to box out or rebound effectively. And like it or not when a team gets up by 20 it's only natural to relax a little. We were up like 24-4 or something and were on point on offense and defense. At that point the game was over. You can't compare how a team plays with a game in hand vs. how they play with a game in the balance. Last night when the game was in the balance we were dominant. Not really seeing your point here but I think it's telling that no one else sees it or agrees with it. You're not normally one of the ones that complains to complain from what I recall, so not sure what's going on.

And to the point of the walk-ons, most have said it, but KJ and Nyarsuk have gone numerous games without seeing the court at all. Lawrence missed over a month and still needs to get back to 100% and he missed ample time to mature on the court. And Caupain has looked really sluggish to say it the best way I can the past five or six games. Giving them an extra two minutes in my opinion is a better option than throwing in the walk-ons. We have a greater goal for the season and time is at a premium right now. We need those four guys to contribute to have a chance to win the conference title and to win in March. Having an opportunity to have them all on the floor at once and run the show as opposed to one at a time where they can hide behind SK and JJ is invaluable to me. Hopefully Caupain regained his confidence last night. He looked comfortable again. I think his play is the biggest positive from last night if it means he's got his mojo back.
