Our turnovers have to be minimal as their transition is lights out. Key will be to win with D as always but offense must make UConn work! Toughest week of the year IMO by far with Sat trip to hot SMU team. 2-0 week could solidify no lower than 3 seed at this point.

Best user name ever. Welcome aboard.

no. just no.

3 seed? LOL.
With our OOC schedule, just no. stop it, ur embarrassing the bearcats fans here. If you think 21-2 with a weak OOC conference like ours then we all gotta open up our !@$%$*@ eyes here. Listen up

21-2. Congratulations. Weak OOC schedule, and a horrible offense. You think we're REALLY GONNA GO FAR? Come on! Yes, defense wins championships. IN THE NFL that is, not really in College ball. It will be funny as a bearcat fan as myself in the NCAA's get crushed by another team, because we're quite honestly not that talented. Relying too much on our kilpatrick and our defense isn't that hasty. UConn (don't be surprised) will beat us.

Pobably not a good ideal to come on boad and start flaming threads. Not if you want to stay very long. If you want to voice your opinion on the Bearcats talent level that's fine but I'm not going to deal with your efforts to get a rise from the members of the forum.

This post literally makes no sense. You said you were a UConn fan, and then used "us" in reference to Cincinnati. Lay off the LSD.

Dear: Lololololo

This is a bearcat website with BEARCAT FANS.. We dont bash our guys.. Nobody wants to hear your crap. Even if I wasn't a die hard I would think you were mentally unstable... Watch some college basketball and get educated.

Stop embarrasing Bearcat fans?? ROFL! Half of your sentences aren't even coherent. Trolls crack me up sometimes.

Don't even bother, guys. Looks like he's already been banned.

I'm going with 74-69 UC. Think this game could be similar to Temple. UC comes out of the gate hot, builds on a big lead, but UConn shoots their way back into it. And like UC has done so well this season, they pull it out.

Pleased to make everyone's acquaintance. Just signed up for this message board. Have been a regular on bearcatnews and have to say this site is so much better. A lot of intelligent and rational posters on here. It's quite refreshing. You guys do a great job. Hopefully I can join in the conversations without screwing anything up.

Napier is my least favorite player to go against. Reminds me a lot of Kemba the way he can manipulate the refs into calling bogus hand and hip checks the way he flops. I can't be mad at him though. It works every time. Havn't seen a ton of UConn this year, but it looks like he's concentrating on getting everyone involved. Probably to help his draft stock. Keep him from setting the tone of the game and we should win by 8-10 points. I hope GG, TC and KJ are up for the challenge.

Welcome to the best Bearcat BB board on the net! I actually think we match up pretty well with UCONN with our two bigs who can switch off screens on to guards. I think we match up worse with teams with a tandem pair of good bigs than we do with a tandem pair of good guards. Good may be a slight underestimation of their talent:)

I could be wrong though.

UCONN is an interesting team. They have a really efficient offense, the best in the American so far. A big part of that strength comes from Boatright, Napier, and Daniels. What is interesting about those guys is that they shoot 3's at almost the same percentage as they shoot 2's. We really need to run them off the 3 point line and try to get them to make 2's, especially against our interior defense which is really strong.

They have other effective offensive options, but they are low usage guys who, generally speaking, rely on others to create for them. How we handle their ball screens (generally one of our biggest strengths) will be a huge key.

Also their defense isn't particularly good. So far its been the worst of the 5 contenders in conference play. After a step back against South Florida, we could really use our offense to continue the progression it had shown in the last few weeks.

Also, it would be really nice to have Lawrence back. This isn't the type of team Dave can play against. If Jackson or Rubles do get in foul trouble and Lawrence isn't available, I think we will need to go small against them with Sanders and Shaq.

I would love to see Jermaine Lawrence back as well.

And I agree that UConn is a very interesting match-up. Their top 6 scorers are all primarily perimeter players (although Daniels plays the stretch 4).

I think we have the defenders to push them off the 3-point line. However, it is going to require some quality minutes from Kevin Johnson in my opinion. Kilpatrick has played 37 minutes each of the past 3 games despite an ankle injury and illness. And they will be hopping on a plane and playing SMU less than 48 hours later. It may sound crazy to limit guys' minutes in a big game like this, but I think Mick has to find a way to steal a few more minutes of rest for our senior trio. Kevin Johnson needs to give us 10 quality minutes in order for this to happen.

Brimah is a 7-foot blocking machine, but doesn't do a whole lot offensively. I'm not too worried about Jackson being able to guard him, but I am worried about our ability to grab defensive rebounds and score in the paint. They have a couple other 6-10 guys they play some, but they don't offer much as far as I can tell. We should be able to play some 3-guard line-ups and run Sanders and Thomas at the 4 if Brimah is out of the game. Rubles guarding Daniels will be an interesting match-up.

I really don't know what to make of this game or how to predict it.

It's going to be a tough game. GG's defense again will be much needed and once again Shaq Thomas will need to play well. I do not think we win this game without a third scorer and bench points. KJ, TC, and Sanders need o show up and I agree with whoever said Big Dave will help out in limited minutes in this game. It's going to be another battle with familar foes going at one another. UConn may become our next big in conference rival with the exit of Louisville. UC's homecourt is the difference in a tight game.

One of the things I look for each game is who is going to step up and get the double digit points outside of the main scorers. Maybe this is a pretty broad statement that could be applied to most teams, but UC will continue to be tough to beat if they can get 10 points out of either Sanders, TC, Guyn, or KJ any given game. Having one of those guys step up on the offensive end, combined with the great team D, that's a tough assignment for any opposing team. It seems one of those guys steps up each game and gives them an alternative scoring weapon.

Does anyone have any insight on the ticket sales/attendance for this game? It should def. sell out, imo. Great time, 7:00 pm on ESPN. Come on people.

Dan Hoard said it's "getting close to a sellout, but there are plenty of $15 tickets left." Seems kind of contradicting. But at least the lower levels will be full. I think if it were going to sell out, it would already be sold out, being just two days away. I'm guessing 12k.

Looking at the website, it's looks like around 12000 have been sold, but it won't become an official sell out.

Thanks guys. I'll be in attendance. I just wish we could get more than 1 official sell out. Especially with our guys playing the way they are. :D

You need a third scorer, it doesn't matter who it is. I believe it was Larry Brown who said what makes UC so tough is the amount of players that can give you 6, 7, 8 points a game on a given night.

As far as attendance if 12,000 are sold it will be very close, if not, a sell out and will make a nice spectacle for tv in terms of visuals and noise. I think it will be rocking.

DeAndre Daniels Closer To Full Strength For No. 22 UConn

From that story, and talking to some UConn fans, it looks like they think he'll be back for the game. Daniels is a huge key to this game because UConn is run a ton of ball screens and pick-and-pops for him. If UC has to switch someone like Guyn or Kilpatrick on to him, he'll be able to shoot right over the top.

In fact the whole UConn team can really shoot the three very well. UC is going to have to run them off the line and force them to take long two pointer jumpers. Jackson and Rubles cannot get into foul trouble on switches when guarding Napier and Boatwright. Louisville played a lot of zone against them, but I don't think Mick will want to zone them because of the fear of the three point shot.

I think Cincinnati will do a good job of forcing the guards to become volume scorers. We know Napier is going to kill us, just make him take a ton of shots to get his points. I expect Cincinnati to come out fired up and build a decent lead of 6-8 points for most of the game. UConn will make it interesting in the end (because of Napier), but UC should be able to hang on thanks to the great home crowd.

I also think Lawrence will not play. I think Mick might try to get him some minutes on Saturday against SMU and see how he handles it with a week off after that game.
