Wow, what a game to be at and experience. The first half had me concerned with the lack of offensive rebounding and letting the UCONN guards drive, but this team never gives up, they kept fighting, tightened up the defense and pulled it out.
Other than the obvious (SK, Jack and Coaching), I give a lot of credit for this win to Gelawn Guyn, the young man played lock down defense on Napier most of the second half, kept him running and working hard on and off the ball, you could just see Napier getting frustrated. I'm going to propose a new name for G, The Glove. We could call him G3 or 3G or just the Glove, with that D he deserves it.
It's great to see different players step up each night and even the ones on the bench stay in the game. Even though Shaq was benched most of the second half for poor D and being lazy getting back, he was cheering and the first one to high five the guys coming into a time out, same for KJ even though he didn't see the floor, these guys truly get what it is to be a team and understand their roles. It's fun to watch and a breath of fresh air.
This team is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Who would have though that after our first 4 games with U of L, SMU, Memphis and UConn we'd already be guaranteed a split of the 8 games with those 4?
Right now I'm excited about where this team can go.
